   I kept seeing this site coming up when I was searching for duplicate content but finally decided to sign in and see what the h-ll it was about. What a shock that was. Thousands of articles being sold that belong to other people. Move the PPP to view the link. I put that in to dead the link. http://scotdirPPP.com/about-scotdir-com

   Interesting.  They are using a lot of the terminology that was used at Helium - there's a marketplace, you update an article by Leapfrogging, etc. 
   
   Sometimes it's the site itself that is at fault, but often it's people who join the site and think it's easier to steal articles from elsewhere rather than write their own.    If the site says people are allowed to repost articles they've posted elsewhere, then they'll have no checks to prevent non-original content.
   
   In this case I suspect it is the site itself that's at fault - because if you look up their whois record, they are hiding their contact details, and the email to report abuse is in RUSSIA!

      This does not sound like HP is the culprit.  Someone in Russia obviously has stolen content from this site.  This should be reported to Google a well as the HP team.  This is not the first time people from other countries have stolen our work.  The team should report the issue and get with Google to take the site down.

         I sent in a report to Google but not sure if they will deal with it too heavily as usually they expect us to send in copyright reports direct to the culprits. I am thinking the Russians are not going to take a DMCA copyright report too seriously though Grrr!

            Which is exactly why Google needs to take action.  They have been good about doing this in the past once they see that we are unable to file DMCA reports due to lack of good information, etc.

         I didn't meant HP was the culprit.
         
         What I meant was that when you see an article site with stolen articles on it, sometimes it is the site itself which is doing it - but often, it's the members who are doing the wrong thing.  The site itself may have good intentions but inadequate controls.   With that kind of site, if you email the owners they are quick to remove the offending content.
         
         In this case, because they've got a host in Arizona, a registrar in England and an email address in Russia, I suspect it's the site itself which is up to no good.

            I'm sure you're right, which is exactly why the team needs to contact Google to have the site taken down, and, if we find our own articles there, we should do the same.

   Wow.... I just did a search on my username and I have stuff everywhere.  I'm feeling kind of sick at the moment.  There's a site that has a whole bunch of my hubs, but they're in another language.  They have all my pics, etc. 
   
   I was actually starting to wonder a few weeks ago if hubs had been stolen because I suddenly lost almost all of my traffic but I haven't had time to look.  I wish I hadn't because now I need to figure out what to do next.

      When you have a website giving away your content it can get spread around pretty fast especially if it gets picked up by some person figuring he can make a fortune by putting it onto a bunch of free websites. Most sites doing this had shut down but this one looks like it began around 2002 so a new spring up. It is definitely a disreputable site without moral or principles. Disgusting that these sites can give away another person's creativity and hard work.
