Can I use Amazon ad in a hub where I discourage people to use it?

I am writing hubs about "worst horror movies"
Basically, what I am suggesting people is "not to watch a list of movies" in the hubs.
So whoever read the hub is not going to watch or buy the movies I criticize about.

So in the hub, I can not show a movie blue ray disk ad from Amazon which I do not encourage people to watch.

For example, people who read this HUB is not going to show an interest to watch Little Dead Rotting Hood, Martyrs and Ratter.
This is going to happen in the whole series of this hub.

My issue is, the learning center says "Every Product Needs 300 Words of Original Text" and adding "In order to maintain a standard of high quality, HubPages requires that every Hub with 3 or more products contain a minimum of 300 words per Amazon or eBay product. Hubs with less than 3 products require at least 100 words of original text per Amazon or eBay product, but the more original content, the better. Hubs that fall below this threshold will be moderated and need to be updated before they can be republished."

So I can show a product ad only if my hub contains minimum 100 words about the product which I do not have in the hub and it's series.

In this case, how can I use Amazon ad?

If you truly must have an Amazon ad, perhaps pick one movie that you recommend over the ones that were horrible.  Tell them all the reasons why to watch that movie instead - how the plot was better, it had more jump scares, or better acting or whatever.  A nice long description of why the movie is the better alternative and they'll be happier with that

Or if the horror movie is so bad that it is actually comical, you can recommend it as funny movie to play in the background at a party etc...

You're reading the Learning Center, so that's a very good thing. I hope other newbies follow your lead. smile

But you also answered your own question here. Since you know you aren't going to sell anything, and the very intent of your article is to steer people away from these movies, there is absolutely no reason to have an Amazon capsule in your Hub.

Adding Amazon capsules is not mandatory. Sales capsules are only for Hubs where there is a thoughtful recommendation for a product, or a thorough and trustworthy comparison made between products. Adding them willy nilly is the very thing that has caused HP to lower the boom on them.

Keep on reading the Learning Center and asking pertinent questions. In this case you should not add an Amazon product your Hub.

As for the word count, they're talking about overall total word count, not necessarily 300 words specifically about one product. The point is to use Amazon products only when you are thoughtfully recommending the product, whether you do that in 2,000 words or 100 words.

      Thanks Eric.
Thank you for the details explanation.
I'll keep this in mind when I write hubs in future.

I wonder if others are interpreting your question correctly?

Just to confirm what they said - it's not compulsory to use Amazon capsules.  Also, the minimum word count refers to whole Hub.  So if you have a Hub that's 1200 words long, you can't have more than 4 Amazon capsules in that Hub.  You don't have to write 300 words specifically about each product, it's just a ratio of words to capsule.

Having said that, I think your question is, "if I'm writing about a film I don't recommend, how can I make an Amazon sale?".  Perhaps you'd like to include some ads for other films.   The answer is, you can't do that - ads for other films would be classed as "not sufficiently relevant".

What you can do is have a sentence that says something like "If you'd like to read other opinions about this film, you can read several more reviews on Amazon".  Then turn "on Amazon" into a hyperlink by highlighting it, clicking on the chain icon, then in the link creator, look at the tabs and you'll see an option to link to a product on Amazon.

Although people might not go on to buy the movie (though some of them might!), there's a chance they will continue browsing once they're there, and you'll get credit for anything else they buy during that time.

    A couple of other tips:

You are not allowed to ask people to follow you.  It's pointless anyway, because there is no way for general readers to follow you on HubPages like there is on a blog.  The only people who can follow you on HubPages are other members, and they are all writers not readers.  Many Hubbers do like reading and supporting each other's work but that will never attract a big audience because our active community is very small.

If you are going to write a series, don't use the same title and add "Part 2". Google doesn't like it.  Each Hub needs a unique title.

Thank you Marisa for your time and detailed interpretation.

This is really valuable "If you are going to write a series, don't use the same title and add "Part 2". Google doesn't like it.  Each Hub needs a unique title."

      Thanks for pointing out.

Also, have any idea to show readers that, this is a series or the second part of a hub if I do not put "part 2" in the title?

You've already got a sentence at the end of part 1 referring them to the second one. Just add a sentence to the beginning of the second one telling them where to find part 1.
