Mine also dropped, but I figured it was due to the fact that my hubs do best during the travel season.  However, they seem a bit better today.

It's hard to answer that without knowing what your average is, Nell. I just checked My Account and I have 126 views in one day. Considering I haven't posted anything new in months, I think that's pretty good.

Yes, I'm definitely seeing a drop in traffic.

My traffic came back up, went back down, leveled off. Seems like normal traffic.

The frequency of new articles that appear on a site is a factor in search engine rankings and visits. Some of the niche sites look like they are drying up a bit with new content.

The flood of people asking for feedback on their Hubs may indicate that editors are trying to find more articles on HP.com for the niche sites.

Some people aren't writing new articles because they don't want to risk putting a lot of work into an article that may not make it over to the niches.

It also depends on the site. Wander Wisdom is a travel site and probably will have a drop in traffic during the winter because more people vacation between spring and fall.

From my experience, the importance of adding new material frequently is greatly exaggerated.  I have a couple of mentors whom I trust and their view is, unless it's a news site, Google doesn't expect new material to be added every day or even every week.  That makes sense, because if you're writing on an evergreen subject, new material won't be constantly flooding in.   Provided the site is updated consistently - and that may mean only once a month - that's all Google wants to see.

So I'm not worried if the flow of articles to the new sites has slowed down, provided it's still happening - and I've had a few old Hubs moved over and I see others posting for feedback so it is.  Also, I've written a few new Hubs and they've all been moved over to the new sites so far, so it's not that hard to get them accepted.

I have published my own sites for 10 years. They definitely increase in audience when I add new content and decrease when I don't. I also manage more than a dozen client sites, and they experience the same thing.

I'm not disputing that regular new posts improve traffic, just that it doesn't have to be multiple new posts every day.   I'm sure new Hubs are being posted to the niche sites at the rate of at least one a day which is more than enough.

Traffic on the niche sites, for me at least, has been steadily increasing. Traffic here on the main site has not done well. However, that's to be expected. Nearly all of the sites most important articles (by traffic, links, etc...) have been moved to new sites.

Going forward HubPages has to provide an easy way for its most important writers to get new (as well as edited) hubs featured on the niche sites. The incentive to write is simply not there without it.

From what I've seen so far, the team understands the direction they need to take. I'm excited to see where they go from here.

My views went down significantly on Teusday but today they are going back up and are back to normal.  I think it was just due to the elections in the US.

All seems to be well.  I have been working hard to build my traffic lately but yesterday I failed to notice that I passed the 300,000 and some more:)
I don't think you need to worry, there were a couple of days which seemed a bit slower than usual but perhaps Mr Trump and Hillary Clinton had a captive audience:)

I just checked my YTD. My peak week was Sep 18-24, been going down ever since. My website, on the other hand, has been steadily rising during this same time period. I'm beginning to think something is indeed askew around here.

After leveling off a day or two mine is dropping again.
Lowest I have seen in months.
Remember back when October and November (and sometimes even into December) used to be record months?
        Good times.

I made the mistake of comparing traffic from October 2011 and October 2016.
            I won't do that again.....LOL
I'm not hoping for leveling off....I'm hoping for a HUGE spike myself.

Yeah traffic is way down compared to pre-election but so are the CPM rates. Hopefully they rebound going into Black Friday and December.

As the traffic is dropping constantly what's the future of Hubpages? - 3 years ago

      So this isn't anything new.
Hopefully just part of the normal ebb and flow.

      1. Marisa Wright profile image86

As others have said, if traffic is dropping to the main HubPages site, that's only to be expected.  As all the "top drawer" Hubs get moved over to the niche sites, the overall quality of what's left on HubPages drops.  As you know, Google judges a site by the amount of bad material on it and assigns it a Panda score which then penalises ALL the content on the site, even the good bits.

Management would've expected that, I think.  The future of HP is the niche sites and most of them, I think, are either maintaining or increasing their traffic.

I'm on pace to have my best month ever. But in my case I might have been helped by the election aftermath, because most of my top performing articles are on protest songs and these have all experienced nice spikes.

    17. Chriswillman90 profile image91

Traffic recovered very nicely now just need better CPM. Despite the slowdowns November will be my 2nd best month on this platform, really hoping to hit 1 million views before the year ends.
