Please don't laugh at me but I am literally jumping. Within my over 2 years here in hubpages, it is only now that I have this in my Amazon Sales Report tab. That is four out of 10 items in over two years so you can imagine that in two year's time, there are many months that my sales report is empty.

June 28 is my lucky day.

That's so awesome! I have almost no luck with Amazon capsules and usually end up deleting them smile

I just added an Amazon capsule last night and am still a little confused as to how it will work out. It seems like it should be so simple but it isn't to me. How does payment for these capsules work?

@queencat, first make sure you've signed up for that part of the HP Earnings Program, otherwise you won't earn a cent!   If you are, then the earnings are paid to you by HubPages along with your regular earnings, though they are usually paid a month or so later.

You are correct...it's not as simple as sit seems.

If you write a hub that is conducive to adding an Amazon ad, the ad must be placed close to capsule that discusses it.

The product must directly relate to what you are writing about, and you must describe the product in terms of your own experience with it or the experience someone you know has had.

Ads should either be full width or should be placed as in text links to the product.

Once you have a good ad, any reader who clicks on it and buys something will produce income for you.  If they continue to buy via the portal they just used to enter the Amazon site, you to earn on every product they purchase.

At the end of each month your total revenue is added to your page view income and on the 28th of each month you get paid.  However, Amazon takes 60 days to pay,so whatever you earn by the end of one month, you'll get two months later.

It's a bit confusing, but the main thing is to be very careful about ad placement and keep ads to a minimum.

iwrite100: Congratulations, that's amazing! No wonder you're jumping haha
queencat: If a reader clicks your affiliate link and buys the product, you get a small percentage of the profit. Which means iwrite100 got a nice boost to her earnings!

Congratulations.  I may do the same if I were in your position.  Question regarding the amazon program (not the amazon associates) do I still need to put a capsule on my hub?  Thanks.  You just inspire me to put up amazon in my hubs.

For me, I put at least one Amazon capsule in all my hubs.

Yes, you can't earn from Amazon if you don't put capsules in your Hubs. Take care, though - I suggest you read my Hub on the Basic Rules first, because there are some strict rules on how to use them.  You'll find the Hub on the slider on my profile.

Marisa:  That's not exactly true.  I have several hubs that had Amazon capsules in them and all have been moved to the niche sites.  However, I always make sure to follow your advice about using ads, which is why I don't think I've had any problems.

That's what I mean.   I know you're always careful to follow those strict rules, which is why your Amazon capsules survive.

"you must describe the product in terms of your own experience with it "

Which is pretty much why I've never bothered .... as I buy so little, I simply don't have the experience of anything anybody else is vaguely interested in.

It never used to be like that.... in Ye Olden Days I could've researched travelling up Everest extensively and found 5 things to see on the route up Everest and photo opportunities to not miss - and then slide in an Amazon book on Climbing Everest.  As I've rarely gone past the end of my own road, I now can't do that smile

The thing to remember, earner, is that they can't prove whether you have personal experience with a product or not!

If you research a product thoroughly (and I don't just mean reading the Amazon reviews), you can easily write a description that sounds as though you have personal experience of the product.

Oh my ... you mean lie?  That's not really who I am as a person.

I'm not cut out for this modern life ... smile

I thought they could tell... because they would know what I'd bought through them... which is pretty much nothing except 2 books 11 years ago smile

Marisa Wrightposted 6 years agoin reply to this

As far as Amazon is concerned, you can choose any product you like, whether you've used it or not.  It's a rule made up by HubPages, and HubPages don't have access to your Amazon account so they have no idea what you've bought.

You don't have to lie.  I never say, "I've used this product" if I haven't.  What I will say is something like, "I recommend this product because it's ...."  or "I like this product because ....." , and I don't say that unless I've thoroughly researched the product and feel good about recommending it.

Amazon does seem to be hot lately. I have been getting lots of sales lately, some that seem unrelated to any of my hubs.

Check Marisa Wright's post about putting Amazon capsule.
She is one of the best  writers here in hubpages with lots of useful ideas shared in her hubs.

I hope I could tell you how but you see, it was by stroke of luck that I had 4 in a day. In most days, weeks and months - zero. smile
