DMCA Complaint

   Hi,
   
   I was told that I received a DMCA Complaint. Is there any way to know what copyright I infringed on. I wrote the content myself, but I can't alter it to avoid infringement without knowing what I need to remove.

      If you know which hub the DMCA complaint is about, you could try cutting and pasting the text in sections into google to see what it was that you copied.

      A real DMCA complaint specifically lists the infringement and where it is located.  Something doesn't sound right here.  I would email the sender and ask for more details unless you can specifically figure out what you did wrong.
      
      It can be anything from using a photo without permission to copying phrases or sentences from another source.
      
      Someone on the team may be able to advise you about what to do, so I would drop them an email and ask.
      
      I have never had one of these complaints because all of my work is original and I only use Public Domain photos or those for which I have received special permission...and I always properly credit those.
      
      DMCA complaints can get quite serious, so don't take this one lightly.

   What about the images you used?
   Were they legal to use?
   Did you have the permission to use?

      There were no images and the email and the site will only say that there was a complaint, but not from who or on what specifically. Any advice?

         If it doesn't say what page or Hub the complaint it about, then it may be a scam, so be careful about replying.
         
         The bottom line is, can you think of anything you could get a DMCA notice for?   Have you copied any text from another website?   Or have you used a photo from another website (other than free-to-use ones?)    Both those things are illegal and you shouldn't be doing them in the first place.  If you haven't done either of those things, then you can safely ignore the notice.
         
         The only time I'd act on a DMCA notice is if I got one from Google - because that might be someone who's stolen my article and is trying to claim it as theirs.

   Please, if you are going to use content from an outside location request permission to use that content. Too many awesome blogs and articles are brought down by DMCA because one picture wasn't sourced. Never copy and paste anything from any other blog, if you add youtube, or pictures, take them yourself / record them yourself. A DMCA is not the end of the world, do as they ask, and edit the content or source the content.
   
   I have to file probably 20-30 DMCAs a week because my tutorials are copied and shared to gaming sites, all over. I have never been asked permission for my content, therefore I always file a DMCA complaint.
