Maybe I am just thick, but a thread which I have been watching, as I was interested in seeing, whether people would take my advice re the best way to diffuse scraps in the Forums,, has a Post on it that says I am about to ruin this thread. Posted by E;pic Fail Guy, who has no Hubs but two fans, Is this Spam?
I didn't get it and was curious. His Avator is a poorly done drawing which clearkly states I am going to ruin this thread.
After the Usmanali Fracas, Where we had 42 Posts just saying hello My name is Squidward Sponge.) I wanted to know was there some way of stopping anyone doing this type of stuff. I worry about How Sites we use can be damaged by Spam as I use Hubpages for traffic, as well as a Catchup, and to write my twopenny"s worth. My largely independent advertisers do not like SPAM.

Here's the thing - sponge, epic fail guy, pamda man, panda god - they're all one and the same person. Trust me. I'm an expert on weirdness. smile

I's like to think all forums hate spam, but they also hate repressing the rights of others to speak out. The fine line is crossed when a person annoys many, as I am certain the Usmani guy did.

One post is not spam (as in your case), but it's kinda rude when you were trying to make a point. However, it's easy to post past people like that and just ignore it, as if it were nothing more than a glitch in the matrix. haha!

What I fined rather funny is if we start to report each other, (except for someone that is threatening your person, and you did nothing to provoke this as in threatening to hurt them.) there will be know one left here except the drab and gloomy.

Agreed.  There shouldn't be reporting one another (unless, maybe, someone threatens or maybe writes some very serious "hate speech").
Everybody is different, and everybody likes different things.  There's going to be stuff someone isn't delighted with, but it's a forum for goodness sake.  Much of the time people spout off when they've had a bad day or are tired (and too careless with their words to make sure they aren't misinterpreted) - stuff like that.  What's "acceptable" is HubPages administrators' business.  Maybe there should be an unwritten policy among us all, "What happens in a thread stays in a thread."  smile

It does kind of surprise me that so many people do take the whole forum thing as seriously as they do.   smile

Everytime I hear people say that I think of the Triond forum and shudder. There are absolutely no controls on that forum and it is completely totally useless...

kmackey, I wasn't necessarily directing what I said at your comment about a "report them" button.   smile   I just saw goodfriendiam's comment and thought I'd add to it.  I can see the humor in the button thing; and I know people were originally talking about spammers.   smile   (Just wanted to clear that up.  We don't need more misunderstandings around here.  smile )

Ya I was meaning the spammers well and if anyone is attacking someone for no reason is all.

    re: report buttons.

Look at the bottom right of this post (and every other post on the forum)

    There's a button. Named "Report".

Click it, and you can let hub pages know if a post, or a hubber, needs to be cut off at the knees.
    And give the reasons why.

Uninvited Writer, I don't mind controls.  I just don't think we should all be reporting everyone who "looks at us cross-eyed".  Helium's forum is the opposite.  They divide up things like religion into all the separate religions, and politics into all the political groups.  That way they keep everyone who agrees together - and I guess it's supposed to be all harmonious that way.   smile
