I am doing a hubpages christmas catalog and I need some suggestions on how to make it more functional.

    http://hubpages.com/hub/Christmas-Catalog-on-Hubpages

Be harsh in a nice way if you need to just as long as I can get it to be the best it can be.

    Thanks,
    Sandra

That is going to be difficult to lay out, that is for sure. I think you have way too many amazon capsules for it to be readable. I would suggest two different hubs, one your "Top 10 christmas gifts," and lay it out the way I lay my product reviews out:

      http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Massage-Table

Then do another "hubpage christmas catalog" using all those other hubbers reviews (presumably to get some referral fees?) and lay it out this way:

      http://hubpages.com/hub/Top-Ten-American-Recipes

      Hope that helps. smile

Thanks, I was considering this.  I am wondering if you happened to click on the table of contents?

Yes, I did - that is why I think it would make a better seperate hub. More work, but worth it I think.

ah, okay.  I had to scope it again to understand what you are saying.

So under the section where I have the featured gifts, write a separate hub.

For all the links, do a separate catalog.

Then what would I do with the one I have right now?

edit-  are you saying I should break down the catalog into review sections ie: for cameras, direct traffic to hub on camera reviews and then list the sellers hubs there?

I think you should do 2 hubs rather than 1.

      1. Keep the hub title you already have, move the cointent above the comment box (I will get to that) and use that title to create a "catalog" where you write up all the things on your list, linking to specific hubber reviews in each section, and lay it out the way I laid out my top ten American recipes.

      2. Move the content you have to a new hub entitled "top 10 christmas gifts" and lay it out along these lines:

      http://hubpages.com/hub/test-112345

Find some better quality photos, and remove the big photo that you have at the top at the moment. Add more text describing the individual gifts so that it always wraps around the photo and then an amazon capsule at the bottom of that text, then on to the next product. and laid out in the same format. I would also edit your font so that you are using the default font that matches the fonts in the capsules.

Let me know when you have got what you need from that test hub and I will delete it.

okay got it.  I shored up a list of separate pages ie:  hp cat. cameras.

I think I could get more out of specific pages and more hubber referral in if I did a separate review in each catagory... like a hubber review on hubber review. big_smile

But I dig the idea on top tens.  What do you think about the sub categories getting their own hubs?  I think it would be much, much more work but I think then I can down size the main catalog index into categories.

        What do you think?

I was thinking I could also do a "next page" and "previous page" buttons too.

So, can I delete that hub now?

I am not sure about all the little reviews. That could be a lot of work for very little income. I have never done massively well with referrals - although sometimes it is hard to know. I sell some very weird stuff on amazon that is completely unrelated to anything I have reviewed.so....

I did sell a $160 medical book last month and do not recall writing anything about anything vaguely related..... lol

yes, thank you.  You can delete it now. smile

I do pretty well with amazon so I don't know.  I wouldn't put "review" in the titles just categories.  Stocking Stuffers, Cameras, Camcorders etc...

Most the money I am making is only coming from 3 hubs 2 of them sales and one google ads.

I figure it can't hurt to see how it goes since from what I have been reading in forums, most hubbers aren't making a lot on sales.  I guess we'll see how it goes.  Who knows it could work out great with a lot of hubber promo...since their hubs are likely to be found there and it is targeting "buyers".

Thanks again Mark for all your suggestions.  big_smile

Well, I started working on it and decided to go with your first suggestion about two hubs.  It is too much work for very little pay.

I started it's make over the other day but decided to give it a rest at the moment and come back to it when I am not sick of it. big_smile

          lol

I don't blame you. Now - I never start a hub I am not ready to finish. smile

But, if you want to catch some xmas traffic, I would recommend it is done by the end of August.

It's what I am shooting for.  This would be the first time I started a hub that seemed to out do me.
