In some of the most important news I've shared all week, let me confirm: consumers prefer bone-in chicken wings over boneless.
Okay. Seriously. It's not the most important news I've read – but I got a chuckle out of it. With the NFC and AFC Championship games this weekend (Go Eagles!), food is a popular topic as Americans move one step closer to chowing down during the Super Bowl.
More than 60 percent of wings ordered at restaurants have been bone-in, while order rates for bone-in wings increases – and demand for boneless wings declines.
As noted by Bonnie Riggs, restaurant industry analyst at NPD:
“Foodservice operators and suppliers offering chicken wings need to understand purchase patterns of wing buyers in order to menu appropriately, price accordingly, and tailor marketing to grow in the headwinds of price increases. Most wing buyers aren’t fair weather fans; they are super fans who stick with one type of wing regardless of price.”
I prefer boneless. I'm shocked to find myself in the minority on this important issue.
I also prefer boneless. I like to use a fork to eat my food. I consider myself to be a pretty laid back person but when it comes to getting stickiness on my hands I lose my sh*t.
But I wouldn’t turn a bone-in hot wing. It’s worth it.
Ha. Interesting that there are two votes for boneless.
When I lived on the east coast, where wings were cheap and actually delicious, I preferred bone-in wings. Here on the left coast, however, I tend to find myself eating boneless wings.
I don't eat either very often, but I'd prefer bone-in, because then you know it is the real thing. Boneless can be a processed, ground up chicken-like substance which might be part chicken.

What do you feed your dog?The healthiest choice for pets is a diet of real food. Despite that, most people continue to buy dry food with few vitamins but lots of dyes and preservatives. What do you think the best thing for your dog is, or do you just buy whatever is convenient?
