Your insurance carrier will not replace it, they'll fix it.  Besides, you have to file a collision claim on your insurance policy which is subject to your deductible.  Once you file a collision claim it counts against you and most insurance carriers will up your premium to recoup the money they gave you for repairs.

the cheapest way would be going to a bodyshop that does paintless dent repair if the dent is small enough.  If not, you can replace the part yourself by going to a junk yard getting the part and putting it on yourself or bring the part to your bodyshop and they'll replace it for labor only.

    Hi, Pankaj,
First of all, it should be clear that to decide for repairing a dent is a good decision because it improves the appearance of car & makes us happy. However, whether to claim the cost of repair with the insurance company or not is a skillful decision. How?
Because to get the amount of repair from any insurance company will also cost! This is because after receiving amount of claim(of course if the company approves it!) you will loose the benefit of, "No Claim Bonus"-means next year, you will have to pay higher amount on renewal premium. Paying this higher premium next year may sometime cost you even more than the amount you might have obtained from the insurance company.
In the light of above discussion it is clear that both will cost you: to get your car repaired from your own pocket or to get the sum of repair from insurance company. It is better to get estimate & comparison of both the expenses & then to make an economic decision. From your statement, "to repair a dent just above the wheel", I presume that the cost of repair may be too little to claim for insurance.
"Only a mature decision can result in benefit rather than loss"!
