Don't. First off, I think it's inhumane, and secondly it's incredibly easy for things to go wrong, especially when you're doing it yourself.

If you do decide to have your dog's ears cropped, have it done by a licensed vet.
Consult with a veterinarian!!! Don't crop your dog's ears at home! Many organizations are actually trying to ban the cropping of ears and tails.
I agree with Maddie's reply and would add that it is cruel! I wouldn't like my ear cropped, would you?
Never crop your dog's ears on your own unless you are a veterinarian.
Even still, you want to search around for a vet who is familiar with cropping the particular breed, as each breed has a slightly different ear crop look. Not all vets crop the same and not all vets are familiar with the different breed styles.
