There are many things that can cause it one is have you had a sleep study done?  You may find that you have sleep apnea. Another thing that may help is to listen to some soothing sounds like the ocean sounds or something that puts you in a relaxed sleep.  I know that I always drink a little bit of milk with an aspirin at night and it puts me right out.  The aspirin helps to calm your muscles and nerves.  Another way is to tighten every muscle in your toes to your foot etc until you just finely drift off.  These are things that I have experienced and have used.

you should give melatonin a try. I take it when I need a good sleep.

Cut out all stimulants, especially after say noon. Have a beer or glass of wine just before bed. As far as waking up 10 minutes before your alarm, I think that is pretty normal, I always wake up about !/2 hour before mine. I guess I can add a link, here is a page I wrote on this subject http://enaturesremedies.com/insomnia-ca … dies-cures

The latest technological way to combat sleep disorders is to listen to brainwave entrainment audios. They will not only correct the sleep troubles but will energize you without side effects. All you need is a sound and rejuvenating sleep. You can read about this technology in this hub and make your own decision.

Ambient / Binaural Beats and Sounds is an excellent source
Discover apps on iphone for this; or ipad or android or other smartphone device.

Get a cd player or music player and download some ambient / binaural beats and sounds and their are options to help sleep soundly.

    Other methods; meditate; yoga; reading

Finding the combination of food to place one to sleep.

Sometimes medication can help place one to sleep.

If you want more I can research the answers for you personally.

Just before you go to sleep, read for a bit in the Bible.
Then pray to the Lord that He would help the words become clear to you and become real to you. Ask Him to give you rest.
Do this until He gives you rest.

Some of us, depending on our age, need less sleep than others. You did not mention whether this is something that's only happened recently, and also if your daytime activities are affected (i.e. you feel sleepy during the day). Sounds like you're generally healthy and just not getting the full 8 hours, but then again, not all of us need 8 hours. The important thing is, are you feeling sleepy and tired during the day?
In any case, I have a couple of hubs that might help. Do check them out and best of luck!
