No, the weather is more in control of our lives than we are sometimes. Then, you got the constant propaganda/advertising with which most people are bombarded with be it in a religious form, education or basic advertising. Our social standing also has its restrains on us and our family ... I don't know but if we are in control of our life it is a very small percentage that we actually control.
I think that we don't even have control over what we eat. You can get up one morning, all happy, full of energy, planning on spending the day at the beach, and the next thing you know, bam, a trash truck runs u over and u spend the next week in the hospital getting the cactus spines out of ur arse because someone cleaned their yard and used the wrong trash bin.....
No, most do not have control of their own lifes. Because we dont want to mess with the natural order of things built by fear of everyday life so no one honestly pursues the choices that could make them happy.
The average person is in control of aprox 60% of his/her life due to the ties and responsibilities that he has built around himself. If you have to consider the choices (and choices come in levels) that you make on a daily basis then you are not in 100% control of your life. If you commit to a religious lifestyle for example you might consider that a free will decision but it's still a form of external control.
I can recommend the book Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely. Also, check out some of Dan Pink's stuff.
so long as we have the choice, we are in control. circumstances can only do so much. it's the choice we make that shape our lives.
You can control your reaction to a life situation. How you respond to a bullying boss or getting cut off in traffic or an act of kindness is within your control. The bullying boss, getting cut off in traffic or the act of kindness are not within your control.
Taking total control of life is not practically possible-if you can really take full control of your life you will be your own god. Some emotional states have the power to make anyone out of control of his life.

How much of your life is controlled by others? Where do you find autonomy? We all have obligations. We are legally required to certain laws. We need to fulfill expectations of the people we work for (even if self-employed). And/or most of us have moral or personally agreed-to obligations to...

It's been only six weeks since that fateful morning when I learned, before my morning coffee no less, that I'd be moving my lenses to HP. I seem none the worse for the event and am glad I made the move. You, fellow former-Squids and Hubbers? How have your thoughts changed or not since that...

Based on what the people with hundreds of hubs who are earning hundreds of dollars/month are saying, it seem that people make in the range of $0.50-$3.00 per hub per month. My question is, how is that distributed? Does each hub make a little money? Or does some small percentage of the hubs make...

I have to admit that I did not do a lot of research on Hubpages before joining, but since that time I had read countless articles on it along with the Google Panda updates. Of particular interest to me was the demise of Squidoo and the parallels to Hubpages. Seems to me that the...
