How to deal with a co-worker?
II have a co-worker who likes to goof off and joke around a lot which is all fine and dandy but when he jokes around with me he says insulting things, which doesn't bother me a whole lot because I know he's joking but I really think he just needs to back off. I'm kind of a shy person so how can I comfortably tell this guy to cut it out in a comfortable way?
how is your colleague able to tell that you find it too much if you take it as a joke and don't tell him. Next time he starts, just tell him, alone, don't embarrass, him in front of others, because as far as he knows, you think it's a joke. However, after you've had a word with him, if he persists, then be short with him in front of others, using words like:
'I've told you before, I don't think it's funny.'
How about telling him.
I too have fallen foul of inter-office japery, where someone wasn't comfortable with it.
Sadly, rather than coming to me and asking that I tone it down, he went to the management and I got reprimanded. If you don't tell this person, how is he to know that you feel insulted.
I feel that approaching him is the first step. That way, there is always the possibility that it can be resolved amicably.
If it persists however, then go to the management or supervisor, whoever is the next up the food chain.
Honestly? Lighten up. Life is too short. Join in the goofing off and have a few laughs.
Really, just tell him that you like the joking around but when it comes to insulting things, you have a problem with it. He can change.

How do you deal with a co-worker who doesn't like you? This is a major issue. Your work place should be a place of productivity and friendship. But, is not always like that. There are a lot of people jealous of you, who envy your work, and there are many people willing to give you such a hard time.

How do you tell a co-worker she's not pulling her weight at work?I work with a woman who never does more than she absolutely has to do to het HER work done. When we are short-staffed, this makes more work for everyone else. How to tell her and still keep the peace in the office?
