   Well, the first thing that pops into my mind is that you will miss out on the male viewpoint during class discussions, team projects, etc.  Sure you may have some male professors but that doesn't replace what you can learn from interacting in class with a representative sampling of society.  In some of my classes (I attended a coed college), I really had my eyes opened by some of the women's comments especially when dealing with gender-related  issues.

   I would never choose a school on the basis of gender.  I'd choose a college based on the curriculum it provides in the field I wanted to study.  Accreditation is a biggie, too. 
   
   Saying that, some disadvantages might be:
   
   Inability to use campus as a dating network (if heterosexual), thus possibly missing out on some of the great college experiences.
   
   Some bosses, when looking at applicants, might judgingly mistake you as something akin to a "femi-nazi" based on you attending a  women's college.  People are narrow-minded in this world, never forget that.
   
   I agree with Richard Stephen about missing out on differing viewpoints in class discussions.  Woman's Study would not have been the same without that diversity of thought.

   Sorry to disappoint fellas there is never a lack of male input dating or just hanging around. I did not have the opportunity to attend the woman's college I’d hoped to because in 1974 I went to work.  However I did attend an all girl's high school.  The male influence is still predominant one although not as bad as it use to be.  We find women now in high power jobs in government, finance, everywhere but still considering the population it should be higher.  In an all female environment, young women must fill all positions of responsibility. Especially at the younger years more young women will enter engineering and math, computer science programming positions at a higher rate.  I look back on my class of '74 and see the lawyer, aeronautical engineers, doctors (dentists, internists, and psychiatrist) and feel confident that this suggests a definite advantage for the female.  There have been many studies done at the HS level about same sex schools.  Males it does not seem to make a large difference but for females there is marked advantage to the all girls’ school.  As for college, look at where these all women colleges are and you'll see that there are male colleges or coed very nearby.  Now the women's college is disappearing due to economics.  Didn't mean to go on so long... I am an educator with degrees from UMd. And RPI (MS) so this topic is one that touches my
