Is Pakistan still the beautiful country I remember from my 1997 visit? Especially, Hunza.
The story of that visit is in the chapter - Silk Road, Part 1 - of my "A La Carte"; Tales of Food & Drink Digested From 55 Years of International Travel. (Russell, D). I also remember loving Gilget, but I understand the tower is no longer in town center. You say you love to write, write about the beauty of your country. The papers have anough of the evils. I'm your newest fan and I'd like to be updated. Thanks. David Russell
Pakistan is really a wonderful country, and i can bet, you would not see much better lakes anywhere than Pakistan present here
Yes the place is so nice and is very popular tourist destination because of the spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains like Ultar Sar, Rakaposhi, Bojahagur Duanasir II, Ghenta Peak, Hunza Peak, Passu Peak, Diran Peak and Bublimating.

I cried so much when we had to get back from those areas
I will surely be writing a hub about Pakistan soon. Baltoro Glacier is listed as one of the most beautiful destinations of the world for adventure travellers and is on my list.
If one watches the DVD of Globe Trekker’s Pakistan, one will find out that this country with undiscovered touristic treasures, can make an excellent destination for the following activities:
1. Mountaineering and trekking in the mountain ranges of northern areas. I mean a trek to the base of K2 in itself will be rewarding with 3 great glaciers in the vicinity.
2. Observing flora and fauna in the 18 national parks, lakes of international importance, and wildlife sanctuaries. most of the national parks are easily accessible from major cities.
3. Studying archaeological finds of Indus Valley Civilization, Gandhara Civilization, and early Muslim period
4. Observing culture ' weddings, farming, arts and crafts, and indigenous sports
5. Observing Mughal, Islamic, British and modern architecture.
I would refer you to the following article written by an Indian-American on the beauty of the country that gets over-shadowed by international media's deliberate attempt to paint that country in the dark.:

If you could go anywhere in the world with free airfare and $5000 to spend, where would you go?You can only spend a week there and you have to use some of that money on hotels. Where have you always wanted to visit, where would you stay, and what would you do?
