If you could go anywhere in the world with free airfare and $5000 to spend, where would you go?

You can only spend a week there and you have to use some of that money on hotels.  Where have you always wanted to visit, where would you stay, and what would you do?

I'll prefer to go to a place where I can enjoy most with this small money. My favorite destinations may include Jakarta, Hanoi, Baguio, Bangkok,Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, Kashmir, Kathmandu etc.

Well, with this money may be a backpacking trip across India seems a great option. Even though it is impossible to map down every aspect of this diverse country, yet I would love to visit it. May be north-east would be my priority

A 'Palace On The Wheel'  journey will be a beautiful idea. In this way, hotel rentals may be adjusted to the railway fare and rest of money may be used for other expenditure.

Gosh, so many choices!  Maybe go to England and drive around the countryside, visiting little villages and historic sites like Stonehenge (on my bucket list).  Or go to Japan and see Kyoto (something I've always dreamed of).  Or visit Spain, and soak up all the great culture, history and FOOD!

New Zealand!  I've always wanted to go there, and after watching the Lord of the Rings which was filmed there, I wanted to go even more.  I would need to do research to decide where to stay, but I just wander around and look and drink in the beauty.

Silva, New Zealand is one of my favourite destinations as well, I just want to drench myself into the beauty of the landscapes there. It is such a beautiful country, totally alien and yet amazingly beautiful

Wow! That would be nice. I would like to visit Slieve League again in Ireland and the rest of the week to other beautiful places in County Mayo like Achill Island and  Connemara,County Galway. I would like to climb Croagh Mountain, St. PatricksĀ“ mountain and stay in a tatched house cottage nearby with a turf open fire in the living room with a pint of Guinness in my hand before going to my cosy bed. I hope it will come true;-)

Top o' the mornin' to ye! I'll tell ye what, you go up the mountain and i'll wait in the thatched cottage with the Guinness and packet of Murphys in case you smoke. I'll bet ye didn't know St Patrick was a Welshman who could swim?

So many choices, so little time.

I would love to go back to Romania where i adopted my daughter and see how much the country has changed in the past 23 years. It was such a poor and war torn place when I spent 6-weeks there in 1990. I would also love to visit with the woman who was my interpreter and helped me so much.

My second choice would be to spend the week on the island of Beque in the Grenadines. It's a solitary and beautiful place and I would love to spend about 4-weeks there just resting, relaxing, and writing, but I wouldn't turn down an all expense paid  trip for a week.

America.  For that much money I could visit at least 25 states, if I had no time restrictions.

Take a ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg on Jylland (Jutland), a train from there to maybe Aarhus or even Aalborg and look around to north and west - Limfjorden - and north up to Skagen, the northernmost point of Denmark. Look across the Skagerrak north to Norway or east to Gotaborg (Gothenburg).
There's the remains of the 'haervej', the north-south military road built at the time of Gorm 'the Old' and improved by Harald Gormsson, the Fyrkat and Aggersborg forts built to train warriors, and on down to the Danevirke.
Across to Fyn (Funen), and Odense. Fyn was part of the 'granary of the north', low rolling hills and growing land for crops as well as livestock. East across to Sjaelland (Zealand) to look around Roskilde, the earlier seat of power, and Lejre (even earlier, to the time of King Hrolf Helgisson) and Kobenhavn (Copenhagen).
That's the $5,000 almost up - no chance of a sub to look further? I'd carry on to Gotaland, Halland and Skaane, once also Denmark until the Swedes got uppity. It's a bit more expensive in Sweden. There's a fair bit more Danish stuff to look at there, like Trelleborg in southern Skaane f''rinstance.

Sounds like a divine setting alancaster149, frankly speaking, I know very little of Denmark, seems an exotic destination to me, but want to visit it in the future, hope that happens soon

I have been dreaming of. Insisting Korea since I was young, a beautiful country with unique cuisine and extremely courteous bowing . I find that their culture are similar to Japan, most of us greet by shaking hands but they bow which is very humble, I love this country

I would like to visit Switzerland with these options available as she is the most beautiful country in the world. I don't mean that other countries are not beautiful but Switzerland is the one I would prefer to visit.

Switzerland's boring. More interesting further east in the Austria/Italy/Slovenia corner. Deep valleys (like Rosental), lakes (such as the Woerther See) and a city (Klagenfurt with its dragon statue in the main square and a giant about to clobber it)

We are traveling around Europe  in a campervan  (Scotland right now ) - more fun than in hotels ! However I would use your money and fly to Iceland for that amazing thermal waters there and put up with a hotel for a few days . We loved everywhere we have visited & Ireland was relaxing.

I think it will be Rio de Janeiro. I've been there once and it's a dream place for me. When I was there I missed a chance to do paragliding and this time I would definitely go for it.
