yea, i have watched the movie 2012, i have heard preachers talk about the significance of year 2012...science fiction and religion seem to have something in common about year 2012. What is your take?

Thankfully non of us are God to determine when this would take place although I do beleive we are doing everything right to make it happen. The amount of sin and atrocities committed against each other are rising by the day. Personally I am glad to not have the weight of the world on my shoulder I will do as God says and sit, be patient and wait for him to come again. I will then know..

I think its much to do about nothing. Perhaps the Mayans simply felt there was no need to go beyond 2012 (whatever that translates to on their calendar system) until they got there, much like it wouldn't make much sense to print up calendars for the year 3050 and store them in a warehouse to sell later.

"What happens after December 21, 2012?" the Mayans perhaps asked. To which another perhaps replied, "We'll start getting to work on that new calendar."

The world is still going to be here.  The human race (or large parts of it) can go at any time -- before, during, or after 2012.

Let's see, we have the Muslims looking to trigger the final battle.  Ditto a lot of Christians.  The totally wacko Christians are not in charge, so they probably won't start it.  OTH, the wacko Muslims are in charge -- or nearly so -- soon becoming in charge -- of those countries, so as soon as one or another, such as the mullahs in Iran get and get control of nuclear weapons and delivery systems, BOOM!

Then, there is world-wide dependence on an electronic infrastructure that can be wiped out at any moment by a huge solar flare, or crazy N. Koreans or Muslim crazies setting off an EMP bomb over Kansas, launched from the Gulf.

Then, speaking of the Gulf -- fishing there supplies (supplied) a large percentage of food.  Forget about that for a few years.  So what you gonna eat in the meantime?  Also, perhaps a huge methane belch that could suffocate millions in the Gulf area.

Then there is the pending collapse of fishing worldwide, not just the Gulf, because of overfishing.

Then there are the cumulative effects of all the chemicals we are all exposed to in food and stuff we handle every day.

    Enough for now?

Most of these problems are caused by culture and religion, which has led to these problems caused massive overpopulation.

The world was going to end with Y2K, and many other 'predicted' endings to or world, I'd say the best thing to d is ignore these things and live life to the fullest.  Have no regrets if it does happen.

Please, go to this site: http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/sc … rmwarning/

A new era is coming, I think. I hope it's an improvement over this one. Let's be honest. It's about time.

This planet will still be standing on the morning of 2012. We'll just have to wait and see.
