Do you think 2010 will be the end of planet earth? Do you think life as you know it is already at the end of time? I do. I think we are headed toward a good end.

I think Bobby McFerrin sang it best: "Don't worry, be happy" big_smile

But he did commit suicide, which is totally hypocritical of him sad

No, it's just the end of an astrological age (Pisces) and next is the age of Aquarius. What'd we expect, that they'd make an infinite calendar?

Who has the time for that? smile

I think things are changing and it sure seems that we are headed for some change in the Earth--it may not be the end of times but certainly a change.

our economy in the USA is shot. It's so screwed that I do not believe we will ever recover. I do not believe we will ever be the World power that we once were. Because of our economic struggles, I believe it will change the way we do things from every aspect. In a way, that is the end of our World in the US and the trickle down effect will make the rest of the World change. No more aid to 3rd world countries but maybe no more war either since we won't have the ability to fund them. Maybe that's a good thing?

Yes, I think change is coming, but not neccessarily the end of Planet Earth.

We'll let Microsoft be in charge of creating the end of the world. Those guys in Redmond, Washington typically misjudge every timeline, so it would give us at least 3 or more years to ponder it. smile

no it wont . the Mayans stopped at a very specific time i think its December 26th or something and at a certain time on that day .so it would be more appropriate to say the end of the year. lol look a pun . but seriously lots of people will die that year .as they do every year . so for many their world will end.what id like to see on that day and time would be observers at all the Mayan   ruins sites.why ? well the Mayans just up and vanished . i have a theory that on that date they stopped at  and at the exact time .they might just return. now how cool would that be? i say way cool.

OMG there it is again the 2012 thing.  How many times do I have to educate you people, excluding Bobby McFerrin lol, that the 2012 thing is the end of you can call a cosmic calendar year.

Nothing will happen, though we could see some really cool stuff but the world is not going to just up and end and there is not great tribulation and people are not going to start floating up into heaven etc.

That is just crazy talk. Though there could be some sort of attitude shift occurring with awareness that does seem to repeat itself.

Maybe the start of the next cosmic year will bring better tidings. big_smile

I read an article this past Sunday about 2012 being the end of the world. This article attributed the accounts of the event supposedly coming from the Mayan calender. It went on to say that Mayans are beseiged daily by others inquiring of the event and they claim to have no knowledge of it. I did however see a special on History channel about the DaVinci code and it (ACCORDING TO THOSE ANALYZING) made strong references to 2012 being the end. Could it just be media hype for the next presidential race or great world summit planned. You know , where the new guy saves the world?

20.12.2012 is the date. Twenty twelve, twenty twelve. It doesn't work the same doing it the american way 12.20.2012.

Supposedly the Mayans, and Nostradamus, and the Hopi indians all arrive at this date as being "the end of the world as we know it".

The banking system collapse of 2008 was also foretold, as a precursor, plus an enormous increase in the frequency and severity of natural disasters. Already happening.

I believe also that planes are having to recalibrate their instruments because magnetic north is shifting. Also foretold.
. .and there is much more if you want to read about it on the Internet.

There is also a whole new spiritual perspective . .but that's another chapter unto itself.

Nope, in fact you should probably borrow loads more, and live the high life for the next 3 years (2 and a bit years or whatever), drugs, hookers, fast cars, brightly colored cocktails with fruit and paper umbrellas, the works. big_smile

Yep, I'm with you there, if the world doesn't end then, well, it has to end sooner or later, just keep borrowing, it's not like people borrowing far more than they can afford to has ever done any harm. smile

I'm racking my mind now about those novelty items, and there's not a lot left of my mind to rack. wink

              What's fun is fun!

As far as people borrowing: who is still lending? Us sorry suckers who lived in our own means are now screwed completely. Didn't even get to enjoy all that excess before everything went to hell.
Brightly colored cocktails with or without fruit are high enough living for me at this point. I prefer the little plastic swords though. More fun to stab the fruit with.

It's dumb and only gives more reason for people to feel like they are playing the hand of god by going out and doing something bad so that it comes true. Why does everyone want the world to end for? I want it to prosper and explore and learn more.

Well that's good - in which case surely they could just have predicted the end of the Myan empire...

      ...

Of course we hear about the few things they correctly predicted or are yet to predict - we don't hear what they predicted wrong...
      "Fred's going to die"
Fred lives - that sort of thing

      ...

Finally, so many people have predicted the end of the world. I saw a thing about a group of zealots called "The End of the World Club" or something like that on TV. They predicted the end of the world and then when the last day came they realised it was wrong and repredicted it. Then when the last game came they repredicted it...it goes on and on and on.

Crazdwriterposted 14 years agoin reply to this

lol are you serious about the Club? wow kind of sad if you think about it lol...why live your life everday in fear that it's going to be destroyed? I would rather live my life to its fullest, and yea have the inclination that the edn of the world will come but I know it won't come in my life time.

I do not think it is gonna end anytime soon .... hey come-on I am not even married! O please give me some more time .... I have so many things to do!!!!!!!!!!

I do not understand why do we keep talking about this? About 20 years back people said it will end in 2000, why? Because the world is too much dependent on computers and in the year 2000 all computers around the world will start behaving weird due the overly hyped Y2K bug. But did anything happen? Nothing, just nothing!

So if it be 2012 this time then what is the possible reason? Sorry I did not read the previous posts, so just in case this question has been answered already then will someone repeat it for me please?
And there is one more thing, why has this thread been posted in "Personal Finance" forum. Is it that end of world is somehow related to economic problem??

There is going to be no doomsday event in 2012. When something ends (even something as innocent as an ancient calendar), people seem to think up the most extreme possibilities for the end of civilization as we know it.

When astrologers speak of the planets being aligned (something which doesn't really concern astronomers) they don't mean that the planets will actually all lie on a straight line at some instant of time. One calculation of alignments within around thirty degrees (about as close as they can get) shows that the last such alignment was in 561 BC, and the next will be in 2854. All eight planets are somewhat aligned every 500 years, and are grouped within 30 degrees every 1 to 3 alignments.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence supporting the claim that there could be a geomagnetic reversal around the time of December 21st, 2012.
the effects of such a reversal have been totally over-hyped.

We'll most likely experience aurorae at all latitudes whilst the dipolar magnetic field settles down to its new, reversed state, and there might be a small increase in energetic particles from space
we'll still be protected by our thick atmosphere.

Nostradamus was, by profession, an apothecary – which, in modern terms, is a pharmacist.
The predictions of Nostradamus can be compared to that of an arrow being shot at a blank wall on which the believers paint a target around its landing!

Nope, we are just moving into a new age. This whole conspiracy panic is the same old thing thats happened everytime the world supposedly came to an end for the past odd 200 years....Some prophet's writing gets ripped out of context and the world panics.

So dont worry, even Christianity states that noone, not even the son of God knows when the time comes.
And when it does, it will be so clear that even a child would understand...
