Creating your own blogs that point to your hubs is a good way to get traffic, but remember that you have to submit your blog to search engines and promote it as well. You can also use free blogs, such as those on blogger and wordpress.

You can check out my hubs on How to Start a Blog for help in this area. Yes mdscoggins you can set up a blog to help get you traffic and you can also write hubs that point to your blog so your blog gets traffic.  In the series of hubs mentioned above, I walk you through the steps in Layman's terms on how to do just that.  The most important thing though is to be patient and don't get discouraged.  It takes time to get the traffic.  I have many hubs on how to do that too and there are plenty here on HP that can direct you in how to use social bookmarking to drive traffic.  Good luck and welcome to Hubpages.

I would think that you really want to have a blog set up and drive traffic from Hub pages to your blog.

When you have an article pointing back to a blog from your Hub you are giving that blog more credibility. I do not think that your blog will give Hubpages more credibility.

Find a good keyword or keyword phrase and should bring you good traffic and start your blog about that. Then write your articles and send them to your blog.

You also would get 100% of the revenue on your blog and well as any revenue you earn here on your Hubs. From an earnings stand point you should be able to make more money on a particular set of keywords on your own blog.

But be certain to keep your blog on topic. The great thing about Hubpages is that you can write on almost anything, almost any keywords and the spiders don't mind.
