When should you start potty training? My daughter is 13 months, is this too early to start?
Three is the normal age, but my younger daughter was fully potty trained at exactly 2. It doesn't usually take long to teach them - maybe a few weeks or a month. I think 13 months may be a just a bit too young. I would start at twenty or twenty -two months at the earliest to see if you can train her by the time she's two.
I would say that 13 months is too early. The usual range is anywhere between 18 months - 3 years, though not very many children are trained at 18 months. Girls are often potty trained earlier because they have better bladder control than boys. Also, each child is different - you just have to sort of gauge if your child is ready for it. She needs to recognise that she needs to go before it happens, otherwise it won't be successful. If a child is keen to try then that is a good sign. The most important thing is to be positive - if it turns into a negative experience then you can give up and try again another time. But I would still wait a while yet.
My nephew started wearing pull ups about 2 months after he start walking so I would say 11 months old he would tell us when he had to go; he always ran to us for doodoo lol he fully came out of pampers when he was about a year and 3 months no it's not too early; it's never too early However signs indicate whether they're ready or not; ex; running to corners and hiding while going that's a sign of maturing askig for privacy in other we'd I'm ready to e potty trained!
i guess the best time is when they are 2 years old... this does not mean you can“t start earlier or later, each child is unique and you will notice when they are ready to be potty trained.... good luck...
Yes it's too early. Please read the book " the hurried child". There is no rush, I promise you she will be potty trained before she gets married and there are no points in life for learning it any sooner. Relax mom your baby will be fine in her own time.
In developing countries, the potty training of the vast majority of children is accomplished by the age of 18 months to 2 years. This was true also for Western countries, 50 or more years ago:
Studies released by Harvard University in 1956 revealed that the potty training of 80% of American kids was accomplished by the age of 2 years.
Nowadays in the Western world, the age at which the potty training of just 50% of toddlers is accomplished is close to 3, and 26% of children are still not trained by the age of 4!
This is due to Diaper Dependence. You see, the only really significant change to have occurred in the toddler world over the last 50 years or so in developed countries, is the shift from wearing uncomfortable cloth diapers to the modern disposable diaper. The technology in disposable diapers has increased to the extent that young toddlers today have No Concept of the feeling of being wet, so they don't have an incentive to get out of them! So the earlier the better.
I think you can start anytime, there's parents who do it earlier if they put in the time. But for my schedule, that would be too early. Save yourself some aggravation and, for a girl, wait till she's 2. For a boy, I'd start at 3 unless he shows real interest. more at my hub, if you want a laugh...

When is the best age to potty train a boy? I know girls do it earlier at about 2, but not sure when is best for boys. Also is it easier to do it during the summer or winter?

Do you think that children should be potty trained before 2?I am concerned that children are being allowed to wear diapers longer and longer. In my opinion potty training is best done early as a natural part of taking care of one's body to promote self esteem. Pampers and Huggies are...
