What one piece of advice would you give to someone new here ?
I would say to first off check the forums to see if your questions have been answered in there first before asking as you can learn a lot there on all subjects to do with your hubs.
What would your advice be ?!
Let others know you exist by getting involved in forums or the questions or leaving comments on hubs.
If you have followers on twitter or facebook let them know about your articles as you write them. Same for Digg and Reddit though I find those sites not of interest to me.
Write to the best of your ability and try not to just snap off any old thing to fill space. If you build it well, they will come.
Be very, very, very careful in selecting your title words. Be sure they are the EXACT words you think might be used in a search for your article. Repeat those words in sub-titles.
Repeat those words in tags.
1) Read the help section and check out the learning center.
2) Write good quality content as often as possible.
3) Visit the question & answer page often: ask what you do not understand and share what you know!
Write a few hubs and then apply to Amazon and Google. Amazon ads can be added in a capsule on your content that is relavent. Google will place ads at the top of your content.
I would say, read a bit, before you write. Get familiar with the community and read the Q&A and instructions before you jump.
Yeah, all the study stuff of course.
But most of all - have patience.
Read up all that is there in the learning center, help section and FAQ
Read up hubs on how to get started by some the pros here - really helps
Write original hubs if you want your scores to increase..
Learn how to do keyword research and SEO for writing hubs that will earn you money
Participate in the forums and the answer section of the community
Review other hubs.. and comment on them that way you will have your hubs reviewed and gain good followers.
Read as much as possible to see what is working for others and incorporate them in your hubs
Never follow people randomly.
Work hard and be patient.
I hope i have mentioned all that there is ..but one can never be exhaustive enough........
Just be yourself, post where you feel like it, write what you like, enjoy (Maybe nicer avatar...sorry but one Aussie to another that one is hard to interpret as a small thumbnail pic) Cheers mate
I'd say that you should write only about what you really care about; but also about as many of those subjects (the ones you really know, and care for) as possible. Also, add as many videos, links, text capsules, and pictures as possible to make a truly epic and beautiful hub. However, a hub does not have to be huge to be beautiful, sometimes brevity is beautiful too.

It looks like a fourth of my feed lately is comprised of new people wanting the rest of us to tell them how to write. All day I get request after request for help on passing the Quality Assessment. I mean Really? Many of your requests are just one step above being a jumble of mis-spelled words...
