What songs make you cry or well up?

Luthor Vandross's Dance With My Father always makes me start to cry as this reminds me of my father who passed away ten years ago

"Crystal" by Mando Daio.  Very sweet and lugubrious with a gentle Velvet Underground-esque melody.  The lyrics are sad, death-related, yet optimistic.  Just catches you off guard, like a devastating body-check from the fluffiest Muppet.

Such a random song... but the one that always gets me is called "The Living Years" by Mike & The Mechanics.  There is a line that always makes me get teary eyed: "I wasn't there that morning when my father passed away.  I didn't get to tell him all the things I had to say."  So sad.  There are def others but this is the first one that came to mind.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by the Beatles and "American Pie" by Don McLean are a couple that make me feel emotional.

Many operatic songs bring tears to my eyes every time I hear them.

"Paper Bag" by Fiona Apple. If the feelings right (or wrong, rather) it can totally rock my world. That and "Lay Lady Lay" by Bob Dylan

Some very intersting songs here, someof which I have heard of a couple I have not. Thanks you all for responding, all feedback has been very positive but I must have clicked on the button twice. Still quite new here and wonder why the vote up button is so faint compared to the vote down one.

A oldie number called 'The Party's Over'.  For instance:

    'They've burst your pretty balloon,
    and taken the moon
    away' -

Wow!   I wish I  had written that!  So  absolutely simple - and   so expressive!!

Dance With My Father is a good one. For me, it's Sarah McLaughlin's song. I believe the title is "In The Arms Of The Angel." Every time I hear this song it reminds me of a couple of my friend's father passing away in the night during one of our figure skating competitions. They (his young kids) went to wake him up to get going and compete and he had passed away. Getting teary eyed now thinking about it.
