   People who use science responsably can help make the world a better place.Science,if used without  morals and ethics in mind can enslave the world to mediocre solutions to our problems.
   
   Good uses and bad uses of technology are easily seen.
   
   Nuclear power - Energy production - Dangerous but useful
   
   Sustainable Energy production  -  bio - fuels - not intrinsically dangerous but useful.
   
   Energy from water - splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen - not intrinsically dangerous if used properly and produces no pollution.
   
   Man - made  Pesticides - useful and  some are proven to be dangerous to human and animal health.
   
   Natural pesticides and companion planting useful ,but labor intensive.safe to use.
   
   Cell-phones - safety is questionable as far as health of the environment from the electromagnetic radiation.The human body is prone to damaged cells when in  close contact with  the  radiation they produce.
   
   It ,often times is a question of con- viction or strong belief that what we do is good for us in every way or just some way.
   
   FLOURIDE - was touted as being good for childrens teeth when it was first introduced .We have evidence that, it's not the case. The same is true of many pharmacuticals  used today. Many if not all of them come with a disclaimer for legal reasons to protect their bottom line..
   
   I often hear people say we live in the greatest country in the world. That may be true ,but it doesn't tell you how great we could be if we wanted to be.It ,just tells you other countries may not be as good as we are.What is the use of comparing a fairly good fruit with a rotten one?m

   Science and the technology that arises from it have indeed made the world a better place.  Like anything else, that progress comes with some compromise and tradeoffs. We live in a world of almost instantaneous gratification now with information, news, etc. at our electronic fingertips. As a result we are impatient, have no sense of craftsmanship, and want everything in life up front and in the present.  Technology has made us a selfish breed and our current level of behavior is not a testament to the progress that it has offered. WB

   Science has made the world what it is today. I am currently a Physics major, and hope to move into an engineering based career, where I am helping technology move smaller and farther forward. Although you may not notice it, everything around you is here because of science. In one way or another, science has contributed in the activity you are doing or the object you are using. If you think of something as simple as food, you are pulling into the equation everything that was created in order to distribute the food, preserve the food, and make the food look edible. Science has made the world a much better place, but we still have a long way to go before it is perfect.

   that's a yes and no answer. science has helped in many things suck as medicine and technology but it also hurts in things like military use . without science we would still be living in the stone age but then again nukes wouldn't exist either.

   Yes. Science has made the world a better place with technology and understanding. It explains way more than religion. It has better our way of living and added value to it as well. It helps to explain the things around us and ever us in whole. It's the reason we know so much now and the reason we'll keep growing as a civilization.
