Should we get rid of "Desires" ?
Even though desires has led Man to today's luxury life but it has been the mother of all sufferings....
Desire is what propels us from one thing to another. It is necessary fuel to our growth. It is a valuable tool in the realm of spirituality, just as it is in the world of commerce, love and health. Desire is not the enemy. The enemy is attachment which weights us down and holds us back on every front. Keep desire. Ditch attachment.
Desires are what wake me up and rock me gently to sleep. Desires are what make me whole. They fuel my soul and carry my spirit. Don't take my desires away.
explain to me how thats possble and then i'll entertain the question
Desire is the innocent fuel which propells our lives, it is the object of our desire that causes problems. That I desire my wife is both good and right, If I desired to punch out the little girl next door to see how it feels, well that is bad and wrong.
The greatest desires that every single human being should have is to know and walk with GOD moment by moment while living on the earth. Everything else comes in a distance 2nd. Yes we are to enjoy ourselves on the earth but the best and greatest desires for an human being is to know and walk with GOD moment by moment on the earth of which I am doing in my own life to the glory of GOD. Please vote this down if this is your desire: a great sense of humor.
Desires make us human beings..
only Angels don't have desires...on the other hand animalistic desires are something which turn us into beasts.
so there is nothing wrong in having desires...if in moderate capacity.
Should we get rid of "Desires"?
How could we ever get rid of a central core of what it is to be human? It simply is not possible, not by any means I know of. Desires are linked to feelings, like Love. So again, I feel the answer is no.
What is wrong with desires? Or feelings? They can be very beautiful if we let them be...
No! Desires are not only our body telling us its needs, but also our source of happiness. Desires are not the source of suffering, it is the fact that we don't appreciate what we do have.
Don't feel bad for wanting more, just be happy with what you already have, and EVEN happier when you have even more blessings!
You can't get rid of desires, Human is simply being led by it...
This is something that is impossible to do. Desires have been part of one's living. Just learn how to handle it.
Desire is what makes you human, there is no way you can get rid of desires. Yes but you can definitely rise above your desires. That makes you a perfect human being who has Actualized himself !!!
The only way to truely get rid of all desires id to die. And I dont think that its a good idea to die before the proper time.
A king should always realise what each person in his kingdom is going through. God has given you this responsibility. Rule for the public not for your Self. Work selflessly, without expectation, without desires and let the Higher Power take care of the rewards
well whether we should or not, it is impossible. We are human and we have desires. You can not act on them, but you cannot not have them.

Our desires in life may be fulfilled, but our choices (based on our desires), may lead to great forms of suffering. The attachment to a memory or a past event, may lead to great suffering. The attachment to the idea of a better future, may lead to great suffering. The attachment to the idea of self,...

Why does poverty even exist in 'advanced' nations, such as Canada, U.S., and Great Britain? To get a better answer to some other questions I've posted, I need to know why such 'wealthy' nations even have a poverty problem in the first place.
