Does this site actually make you money?
I know this seems like somewhat of a personal question and I do apologise for imposing. I write for the love of it but I also need to make an income so I was looking for input from a regular user.
You are not the first to ask me, so no problem.
I am laughing as I type, but I truly do wish I had a better answer for you. This will sound rather ditzy, but the honest truth is that I don't know. I am signed up with something called adsense, but don't even know if I've done that correctly.
I probably need to learn more about the business end of hubbing, but I just write. I do read a lot of hubs, including bits and pieces from hubbers who say they are making money so I would recommend that you check those how to make money hubs out.
They seem to focus on writing about products and that could be done in tandem with writing for the love of it, but I haven't taken the time to really work at it. I've mostly focused on refining my writing, however, I do plan to one day get around to learning about how to make it a business.
Or maybe someone who loves me will figure out all that stuff for me and let me just write. I wish!
Just looked at your profile and first hub again. Your first hub speaks well for the potential you have. I do know enough to help you with a few things as you get started. Read several hubbers profiles and then make one for yourself. Use videos that pertain to the topic of each hub and add advertisements from Amazon once you are signed up with them. Link your hubs to each other, and to other hubbers with related topics (making sure their hubs have some quality work). The options at the upper right hand corner of the hub construction page will allow you to do these type of extras. You can add to or change old hubs by going back to edit them. Follow hubbers selectively is my advice because I think that is what will encourage good writers to participate on hubpages, but I think many hubbers follow any kind of writing that shows up. However, I'm probably not the most qualified hubber to get the best advice from for any aspect of hubpages.
Thanks for thinking enough of my work to ask though. Nice to meet you.
No, not much money at all! But I have heard of hubbers that really do make good money from it. I don't, but then again, I don't market my articles by doing social bookmarking & other backlinking. I write on hubpages more for the fun factor, and I figure if I make some money out of it then it's an extra bonus. I did once try promoting one of my articles but it just felt like 'work' instead of 'fun'. So, I guess my bottom line to your question is, no I don't make real money (yet?!) from this site. But then again I don't put in the extra effort of marketing that some hubbers might do. I put all my effort into the writing because that's the bit I enjoy. Sorry for the long answer, hope this helps.
PS - when deciding to go with (or not go with) any writing site, my personal approach has been to write 5-10 articles on different topics, see how they do and *then* make a decision based off that. Just a suggestion.
You can but it will take a lot of hard work. Check out the success stories to see the earnings of a few of the hubbers that do well: http://hubpages.com/success/

I have at least 5 referral trackers for those who wish to sign up.I have a total of 25 sign ups. This is good. However, those who have signed up are not blogging, or there is no traffic. Are these people ghosts? What is the sense of having these trackers, and someone signs up and doesn't participate...

This was a nice experiment, but I've ultimately concluded that this site blows. The two competing interests are making money and writing quality articles. Mind you, I've written a handful of stellar hubs, yet I haven't a penny to show for it. Sure, I have about 100 or so impressions on AdSense, but...

Hi, I have been posting a series of hubs on Dog Care and Adoption topics. All my hubs are original and I type each character in it. I also got a decent number of Hubs(21) to begin with all with good content. But google has twice turned down my request for adsense Account. It says-" Thank you...
