   Based on my own personal experience, trust that is freely given before it is earned is an open invitation to victimhood. Trust is something that is earned. I cant tell you how many times I have ended up a victim because I trusted when it was not deserved. I am a bit more cautious with my trust today. Perhaps it is different for others but that is how it has worked for me.

   Trust needs to be earned. Honestly, it can take a very long time to truly get to know someone and you have to give it time to see if they are trustworthy.

   Trust is a funny thing, especially these days with things as they are. I have seen lifelong friends be torn apart by the simplest disagreement. People are so afraid of what might happen if they opened up to one another that trust is a fading, yet still noble in my eyes, thing. I think people are too willing to trust the wrong person that the ones truly deserving of it have to work twice as hard to earn it. Used to be you knew who to trust, not so much anymore. My grandfather used to say "I trust that fellow as far as I can throw him", but he was a big guy and I never really knew how far that could be. Earned trust lasts, but never as long as it took to earn it...W

   True trust is never given, it is earned. You don't necessarily need to save someone's life to earn their trust. You can earn their trust by conveying them your sincerest feelings.

   this is a good question. Personally, I trust easily, sometimes right away, but I'm constantly suspicious. I think trust is often simply given, but can be lost easier than earned. A case where it might have to be earned is if you have heard bad things about the person in question. Otherwise, you probably assume that they are a good person and should be trusted.

   Trust is initially given for me, until someone lies to me or betrays me, then it is the point of where they have to earn my trust in them again.
