   Academic self-confidence comes from hard work.
   For example, you'll never be confident if you get E's in every class.
   Social confidence comes with not worrying about what others think all day and night (however, acknowledging their beliefs is still important).

   faith. the faith that all our needs will be taken care of.
   it can be faith in God or some outer force or a complete faith in our own abilties to handle anything that may come up.
   the moment you realise that whatever life throws up at you can be handled ,you feel confident and it also helps you in bringing out the best in you and automatically the prophesy of your ability to manage gets fufilled.

   On a more superficial level, confidence is earned whenever you do something well, especially something important to you. For example, if you value your work, then getting a promotion will definitely boost your confidence. Another example, if you value beauty, then acquiring many admirers will definitely gain you self-confidence. It is important that you perform well in areas that matter to you for confidence to kick in. Confidence is indeed fragile. It'll get toppled easily. It needs maintenance. But the key to real confidence is your own attitude. It's indeed hard to achieve. Yet when you learn to be less conscious, and more accepting of yourself, you'll become more confident. In my own humble opinion, I believe that confidence starts at a superficial level, followed by a good attitude. It helps to have good friends around you as well.

   The best source of confidence is internal. looking inside yourself. too many people llook to outside influences and these can be tricky at best.
   
   The best way to build confidence this way is to learn to look at your victories in life and quit focusing on failures. We all make mistakes, but if you dwell on every negative thing that happens, you will always be finding more things to dwell on.
   
   All great things come from within first and then are externally experienced. So, the best sources to do this is through keeping a victory journal, where no success is to small to keep. If you are trying to lose weight and you lose 5 pounds, celebrate it in your journal. 
   
   The other source is meditation. spend 15-30 minutes a day in relaxing meditation, letting go of all the negative thoughts and focusing on just being in the moment.
