   Because emotions are produced by hormones and neurotransmitters that circulate in your body. When there are too powerful emotions, the organism can get overwhelmed by this bioactivity. Stress, in particular, increases cortisol and norepinephrin levels in your body, which if too high for too long period can put serious stress on your system and also deplete your immune system in the longer term. That is why learning to manage stress is important.
   
   You have to learn to manage your response to stress. Because, in the end, it is your psyche that triggers the production of emotions in your organism. You can control it.

   Simply we feel by our sensory cortex in the brain. These feelings include emotional stress too.
   
   Let's assume that your brain cell that feels emotional stress is like a box in which you can put different things but the result is always the same which is when the box is full you will feel emotional stress.
   
   Things that may fill this box include emotional trauma primarily and any other afferent stimuli to this neuron like physical pain. For example back pain may cause you depression or anxiety and stress just because it is aching and sending impulses to the neuron concerned with emotions.

   it's called conversion defense mechanism.
   When stresses in life like death, breakup, divorce or anything like that hurts you emotionally, your body naturally reacts to the emotional pain by converting those pains into physical pain simply because it has no outlet. This usually happens when a person who is depressed or sad feels that he or she does not have anyone to turn to. Basically, conversion is a defense mechanism because there's always cure for physical pain and when the physical pain is treated the emotional pain tends to go away as well.
