Is it wrong not to aim to be rich?
People may ask you to join them in a business, with grand promises of grandeur and wealth. When you tell them that it does not intereset you because you're not aiming to be rich anyway, they just look at you, disbelieving, and then condescending you. Is it that wrong to be contented with what you have, and not aim to have too much?
It is very much rightful to aim to be rich and high. The most important part is you earn it in right way which is allowed by law. Not by casinos', drugs and ponzi skimms.
There is certainly nothing wrong with striving for wealth. If we didn't have that desire we certainly wouldn't have developed all that we have. We would have not moved out of the dark ages should contentment with what we have overshadowed what we want.
I totally agree. It seems that some people have an ingrained and inherent prejudice against become wealthy. To these people, being wealthy is equivalent to being greedy, materialistic, and elitist- only a modest amount of success is permitted!
being rich is irrelevant. in too many cases it just shows that you are greedy. i could make $500,000.00 a year easily but i chose to help make my employees a bit better off financially then to keep it for myself. i still make a decent living but at the same time my employees also make a living they can be proud of.
This is a question that has to be answered by each person on an individual level. What one persons idea of rich is, is probably not the same as another persons. I personally aim to live within my own means, and not burden anyone else. That to me is being rich. That would be the same if I made $30,000 a year, or $300,000. Another concept of being rich, is how much time making a set amount of money is going to cost you. There are certain things I would not be willing to trade for any amount of money. Contetment is one of the major pieces of being happy.
It looks like, from your name, that you may be a teacher. If that's the case, good for you. I applaud you!
While it's true that you won't become overwhelmingly rich as a teacher, I know the reality is that you WILL become unbelievably rich in spirit.
For me (a teacher for twenty years) I did find a fine way to teach and make oodles of money, by teaching in international schools. I (with my family) got completely out of debt, and was able to bank a whole lotta cash. It's been a fantastic life! My two children (now in their 20s) would agree!
If you want more information, let me know. I really should write a Hub...
If you are comfortable that your responsibilities and family are comfortable. Enjoy life. Some riches are priceless.
No it is not wrong to aim to be rich, but if you want to be rich, it is not bad to write that goal down somewhere in the back of your head though. If your goal is to get rich, you will probably never get there. You should want to do something you love. You should do something that you want to do, and in the future, your life will work out. You may not ever become very rich, but you could become as well off as you need to be.
There's nothing wrong there. We all have different purposes in life. In your case, money is not one of them. Sometimes, money could make life even more complicated. At least you are contented on what you have now, that matters the most.
I frankly still aspire to be rich. I forget who said, "I've been rich and I've been poor, and rich is better." I think the problem lies in hoarding and becoming too self absorbed with oneself and ones money.

Everyone hates the "rich" and I do not understand why. I was always under the impression the American dream was to become successful and stay successful? SO why are we always trying to punish the rich?
