   How do you pay your respect to what happened on the 11 September?

   I don't. I served in the military and in both wars sparked by the attack. I've put in my time. What I learned during my military career and in my research since, has convinced me that the event is in no way related to the official story. Thousands of innocent people died for a lie. Every anniversary I cringe to see that we still have no answers. Though, I may mark the occassion by writting to my Congressman, again, to request an independent investigation.
   
   Even the people organizing the ceremony don't seem to care about paying repects. The NYC Police, Port Authority, and FDNY are not even invited to the event due to "lack of room." Funny how no one invited them on September 11, 2001 but they showed up and did their jobs. At least they saved seats for all of the politicians and leaders whose job it was to prevent it from happening.

   I find myself saying a lot of prayers not only for those heros who lost their lives, but also for the family and friends they left behind.  I also make a conscious effort to never forget that tragic day.

   Pay respect, they way I view that day is every Americans life was in jeopardy that day.

   I pay my respect about 9/11 by realizing that for some people in this world, this kind of catastrophic attack is quite routine. Israel, our closest partner in the Middle East, constantly suffers "terrorist" attacks, but you don't have to take your shoes off at the airport, there, so I hear.
   
   I don't want to upset anyone by trotting out the "chickens come home to roost," thesis here, so I will not. But 9/11 should have been our opportunity to embrace the world, in all of its diversity, in a way we never had before; and we could have, the world initially offered us solidarity, saying that "We are all Americans now."
   
   But we didn't go that route, instead it seems, paradoxically, that we've grown more insulated and isolated than ever before, despite the fact that we're involved in at least two wars, maybe three, that we know of.
   
   9/11 should have been the spark of urgency Washington used to bring more of a sense of determination and purpose as far as settling the Palestinian-Israeli war (actually Isreali occupation). If we're going to be so internationalist, then we should actually do the "nation-building" thing, by looking at the structure of financial, economic, political arrangements we have imposed on the world, for better or worse.
   
   Perhaps we could make more progress on the anti-nuclear weapons proliferation issue, by leading by example. After all, it is still the United States and Russia that have over ninety-five percent of them, right?

   I feel as some of the others here but I am sure we will never get answers. We don't demand them and we don't get them. For this tenth year I wrote a poem that says it all.
