In india the cheapest way to book flights is plan. Plan before one month or so and you will get cheap tickets booking online.
I start out looking at the on-line booking sites like Travelocity and Expedia to get ideas on the different flights and fares offered to my destination. Once I figure out which airline seems to be offering the best options, I then usually book directly from the airline's website because it seems to be slightly cheaper. Also, I always make sure to book with my frequent flyer number so I get the miles, because cashing in those miles is definitely the cheapest way to fly!
Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I often use Expedia myself, and going to the airline website is a good tip. Still, international flights break the bank pretty quickly. I wish the Americas had low cost airlines like Ryanair or Easyjet....
Megan, don't wish too hard for a Ryanair or Easyjet airline! Of the 2, Easyjet (or easyjet as it prefers to be called) is slightly less irritating, but both charge extra for every single thing that you probably take for granted. Pay by credit card? That's extra. Debit card? That's extra, too. Baggage? Oh dear, we'll have to charge you more for that. Want to select your seat? That's a No, we prefer to herd you onboard. In flight meals? You'll need to take out a mortgage, but don't even THINK about bringing your own food.
Ryanair is the Big Baddy because it seems to go out of its way to make passengers feel unwanted. It is trying to bring in a charge to use the toilets in flight now!
Both airlines operate a 'marketing philosophy' for ticket prices. They are entirely flexible, based on an almost real time analysis of demand. The result is that, whenever you want to fly, expect to pay a lot more than the person sitting next to you - who actually wanted to fly at a different time but found the fare too expensive!
Thus a fare advertised at, say, $29 will actually work out at over $100 - and expect your return flight to be $250 or more to get back home!
Flexibility and a little research are the keys to saving big on airline tickets. Learn how to navigate the system and find the best price for flights. read more

Airline offers baby-free 'quiet zones' on flightsFor many of us (the childless ones, anyway), few things about flying are as excruciating as a crying baby. We know, babies have to travel too, but when you're trapped in an aluminum tube six miles in the air, nerves get rattled and fuses get short....
