      I am not sure if the questions go together - but I will answer both.
      
      Some people like Obama and some don't because everyone has different opinions on what should or should not be done in America, or they do or do not like his speaking style etc. Everyone is different and everyone has different views so everyone will like or dislike everyone else. There is no one in the world who is completely liked or disliked by the rest of the world - there will be exceptions
      
      On why people are racist - I don't know... I think it is sad, but it could be because of fear, or inexperience, or based off of steriotypes... it could be that they need to be angry at someone and invent someone to be angry with in their head.

      I do not know peoples reasoning behind that.  They have been saying all kinds of things from antichrist things to he is too young to I dont know.  I dont understand why and it is not all racism I know.  Maybe some are, but I have heard all kinds of stories.  I did not vote at all, I figured either he or mccain would be ok with me.

   Actually, I love the fact that Obama is African-American. I was really, truly excited and moved when the US finally had a president who wasn't white. I still love that fact.
   
   The issues I have with Obama are the issues I've had with many past liberal presidents. Heck, I'm not a fan of either party, really, and I think the system is ridiculous for having either one extreme or the other to choose from.
   
   What I don't understand is why people MUST be racist if they don't "like" Obama?  Why should it be about race at all? If I don't like a white man for his principles, and that's just fine to the world, how come it's a problem when I don't like a black man for his principles? People are rightly asked not to judge on color, so I don't, then how am I a racist if I don't agree with someone for a reason independent of this?
   
   You ask in the topic "Why do people like Obama and some don't" then inside ask "why people are racist?"
   
   To me, those questions are entirely separate. I sincerely hope future presidents are of every ethnicity that we have in this country, but I won't vote for anyone (white or otherwise) simply because of their color.

   Racism is simply one among a gazillion examples of the D.S., the "Difference Syndrome".  A solid example of this is shown in the cases of languages where the words for "stranger" and for "enemy" are one and the same.  Or when a difference in religious beliefs triggers violence and even death.  Or when a herd animal is injured--I saw this on my father's ranch in Montana:  A cow that had been part of the herd for years broke a front leg.  Don't know how, but as soon as she was seen to be hobbling on 3 legs, the rest of the herd tried to literally run her to death. 
   
   Because she was suddenly seen as "different", not "one of us".
   
   If one of us feels he or she does NOT suffer from the Difference Syndrome, beware:  The D.S. lives in the cracks.

   Actually I have no doubt I would really like Barack Obama If I met him In person . I am still pulling for him now . Heck I am a US Citizen so of course I want what Is best for our country . I just do not agree with some of the policies he Is trying to enact and I especially do not like the people whom he chooses to surround himself with .Rahm Emanuel Is the Al Capone of politics In my mind. But like Misha said , I have no doubt this Is a kid asking this question .

   I say that as somebody who is pro-Obama, if you think that around 50% of the population of America are racist.... then maybe it is you who is the racist? Just a thought. There are many black people, white people, asian people, latin people, people of all colours and races and religions that dislike Obama. Just like every other world leader.

   I think people are racist because of their own insecurities.  Any race can be racist.  If you believe your race is better than any other, technically, you are a racist.  Racism is a form of ignorance that comes from lack of understanding.

                        I absolutely agree with this.  If we watch small children at play, though they can obviously see that their playmates are different, it does not bother them at all.  Children accept skin color at face value , i.e. as long as the child they are playing with plays nicely, they like them.

   Most people who don't like him do so because of his agenda.    The people who do like him do so because of his skin color.  He in fact is a racist.  No-one can attend a church with a racist for a pastor for TWENTY years and be clueless about the beliefs.  His wife wrote an anti-white paper in college.
   
   I have many black friends who voted for him because he's black.  Now they regret doing so.

                True, I forgot to mention that.  Heck, I read the entire series along with books on Christian eschatology just to impress a girl I was interested in.  Total waste of time from the dating perspective, but very illuminating on how some Christians see the world.  I suppose that's why I don't get so hung up on the religion vs atheism debates because I realize saying Christian is like saying American.  There are different flavors of each.

    This is an interesting thread, aside from how it started.  I later clicked the profile and was curious as to how a 12-year-old who had only written a few hubs decided to write on how to make "tons of money" on Hubpages through clickbank.  Did I read somewhere that clickbank was not approved for HP, or am I confusing it with something else?  How is a 12-year-old going to give solid money-making advice? Did he get rich investing his allowance?

             If you think he is twelve than report his profile to HP.  Personally I do not feel comfortable doing that, but some people have reported underage profiles.  The way I see it someone could pretend to be over 18 and post here, so who really knows.

    I would say the majority of people who oppose Obama are not racist and just do not like his policies.  However, there is a small minority that does not like him because of his name, and because he seems a little foreign to them.  Heck even growing up my last name was an immense amount of confusion to many people because it is spelled similar to and sounds like a girl's first name.  People some how mispronounced my last name because they thought that was correct because it looked so much like a female first name.  I am not saying all people feel this way, but I even know people who voted for him who claimed that they wished he would change his name to sound more mainstream.  Obama shared in his memoir that he refused to change his name when advised to do that, and I am actually glad he kept it that way.  I am not saying all people feel this way, but there are studies that show people with unusual names are treated differently than students with more common ones.

    People are racists out of fear of the unknown or loss of privilege. They are afraid of what they don't understand and or afriad that someone else will take their jobs. When people are afraid they act in irrational ways. They make up cruel stories and spread them as rumors or they act violently to protect their "territory." Fear cause people to do what they otherwise not do in a less tense situation.

    Mr.Barack Obama is liked because his position indicates the magnanimity of Americans, who once treated the black Negros as slaves. Because he comes from the lower status of society. Because he can convince the muslim world that America is not against muslims.
    
    He is hated because he is displaying public discontent against the former Govt, headed by G.Bush. He had no basic courtesy even to invite him for the party after taking oath. I had to witness (by tv) Mr.Bush's exit as a lonely neglected man, and his plane circled over the white house like the unwilling soul would leave the human body.
    
    He has some soft corner for muslim countries, hitherto enemies to previous governments. It looks like the whole of America has embraced Islam. Better Obama leaves soon.
