What do you do when an idea for a new hub hits you?

If you are at your computer, do you start right away? What if you aren't near a computer, quickly write it down? If I'm at my computer I tend to create the new hub, but I won't start on it just yet. I just like having that red hub on my account page to motivate to complete it. If I'm not near my computer I will usually make a note in my phone to remind me, if I write it on paper I'll lose it in a matter of minutes. How about you?

That's almost exactly what I do. If I don't have computer or paper handy, I'll note it in a draft text message so I have the essentials, or even record it on my phone's voice recorder.

Sometimes if the idea is feasible, I will use my computers notepad to start writing. If it looks like I can accomplish a hub with it I will start doing the hub. That way I can just save the notepad if I want to save the idea for later.

I have a pretty big list of hub topics saved on my computer. I normally have about 3 or 4 hub drafts going at the same time and write on whichever one I feel at that moment. It keeps me motivated and interested. So whenever a topic comes to mind I put it on the list but if im ready to write it right away I will go ahead and start a new hub for it. If im not around my comp, ill write it down on paper so I do not forget the information I wanted to go in it.

I start a new DOC file and type up a potential title (may change it later) and any "thought triggers" as I call them to remind me later of what it is I want to write about.

Then later I go back to these files to add notes and paragraphs that I may eventually use in the final Hub.  I have several of these doc files in existence at any one time. Whenever I have time, or the inclination, to write my next hub, I just go to that list of filers and pick one to complete and publish.

Thoughts and ideas for hubs come up all the time, while talking to friends on the phone, or when watching the news or reading a magazine article. I would forget my thoughts pretty quick if I didn't open up a new doc file and type up something to get started when I'm ready.

If I'm not near my computer I type up  preliminary notes in my iPod Touch and email it to myself.

Sometimes I just write it.  At other times, I develop the topics and headlines and then research what I may need, check the keywords, etc.  I try to include photos and video in hubs these days so I also make sure that I have those on hand.  Then I piece it together and re-edit the writing.

I ususally think about it for about a week before it goes on paper. My main obstacle is the hook. Once I get a good opener, I can let the story flow from there. Kevin

i mostly get ideas while on my computer so i create a new hub but don't write anything in it... i just get the title in and then continue working on it when i have time. I only write 1 hub at a time though. I won't start another until the first is complete.
same as you ... if an idea pops up while out and about i'll note it on my phone.

If the content is large then like Glen i write it up in msword first then when transfer to hub pages when close to complete. pictures, i only get when i'm on hub pages setting the layouts.

All depends - with the hub what happens when I swallow a fly " I was on my bike on the way to the pool when I swallowed a fly ! by the time I was in the pool I had the idea for the hub & wrote it as soon as I got back , I find I need to do it as I go on the hub rather than elsewhere .
I have started & finished 2 new ones in the last 2 days yet there are others I have started & not finished yet
Looking at water is relaxing to help you think better !
