Well,  I'm not all that fat anymore lol..

You can definitely be "healthier"  Have you ever seen those guys on "The Biggest Loser"  do they have that show in the UK?

Even before all the weight comes off,  you can see the improvements in their cardio.  Stuff like diabetes starts improving etc...

    Btw,  thanks for the welcome.

If you lead a healthy lifestyle like no smoking, 'moderate drinking', exercise at least 3times a week, eat healthy food...you can still be healthy even though you are fat. But your weight got to be within that 'healthy range'..check your BMI

This is an interesting question.  To address it properly, we would need to qualify "fat" and most importantly, "healthy."  Health is about balance--everything functioning at optimum level.  A healthy person would be experiencing high energy, clear and acute thinking ability, physical stamina, a strong immune system, high productivity, spiritual and emotional wellness, and all body systems working effectively as designed in a harmonious whole.  Since health is a dynamic total, it would be fitting to identify any imbalances and address them.  Instead of someone's perception being too fat or thin, it would be more appropriate to ask, "What is not in balance?"

Though this is a tricky question, I believe that people can definitely be fat and still be healthy, but there's a limit to how fat. I think we as a society associate health with weight far too often. The people I've seen with the worst diets were skinny people or better termed, people who weren't overweight.

I know from experience, I ate terrible when I was younger and got sick more often than my peers, but my weight has always been in the normal range. Now I eat far more fruits and vegetables, deal with less sickness, and my weight is still the same.

Yes you can. As long as you are living a healthy lifestyle then yes. You don't have to be thin to be considered healthy. If you eat right, exercise a few times a week, don't smoke, and drink moderately, then your health shouldn't be a main concern. Like fit2day said, there is a limit to how fat. It's best to seek medical advice from a doctor for more answers.

Extra weight equates to extra stress on joints at least.
A positive body image is more difficult to achieve
than getting lean. The mind is a powerful thing.

It is better to be fat and healthy than skinny and lazy.  I know some people who go to the gym all the time and they don't shed pounds drastically but they are healthy.  Yes, it is possible to be fat and healthy.

You have to determine what you consider fat before you can truly answer this question. There are so many different definitions of fat that it makes a difference. I think that the two are correlated and affect each other. The healthier you are the less fat you are going to have. In my profession, I deal with weight issues all the time and you don't have to be skinny to be healthy.

I guess that depends on what you mean by fat. People have different body types so a bigger person could be just as healthy as a smaller person if they both eat right and exercise. It goes the other way around too. Somebody who is skinny can be just as, or even more, unhealthy than someone who is overweight. Depends on the person.

I can say what a person is and there choice is there right on how they want to be, that isn't our place to judge..A person who is over weight
May need a little encouragement with a Friend. And not be put down..

Of course.  Plenty of overweight people have perfect blood pressure readings, perfect blood sugar, perfect labs, perfect diagnostics.  On paper, they are very healthy.  The question for a heavy person is not always about whether they are healthy now, but what disease and hardships excess pounds can predispose a person to in the future.

A person might be healthy for now, but that doesn't mean it's okay.  There is just too much research saying being overweight is bad for you in the long run.

Oh my goodness yes, my mom is technically obese as far as BMI goes, but all of her blood levels of cholesterol etc are perfect and she is 60 and on no medication.  She stays active and exercises, and eats a very healthy diet, she is just over weight.  I don't think being overweight causes any problems.  Especially if you are taking care of yourself diet and exercise wise.

People should strive for a normal weight - both extremes are bad.  I once saw a woman in my ballet class who was definitely anorexic.  She was a very nice person.  I asked the instructor if she could do something for her.  She sort of shrugged and said "What can I do?".  Overweight, on the other hand, is correlated with a number of disease conditions.  You may be protected from them if you have "good genes", but the odds aren't in favor of most people, from what I've read.
