Are you worried about SOPA affecting all of the hard work you've done on Hub Pages?

Have you done anything about it?

We are not the first in line to suffer losses due to this, I take it the big dogs will be further negotiating this matter.

All original content, no worries in that regard. Too much government interference: that is something to be against.

In my humble opinion, The Internet is evolving into a national treasure that should be protected. How it is protected is the reason for concern. Considering the net is still pretty much in the days of the old west in terms of its evolution, Some governmental  regulation should be in order. Feel free to go after the child porn and hate sites as far as I am concerned. But my wants and desires are not necessarily what is good for a nation of people as a whole. Censorship is a vial thing, that has no business on the net. However are we o capable as a society of tech savvy nerds capable of policing our own dirty laundry? The real question behind this question should read: Do you trust your government to dictate what you can and cannot read on the internet? Do you really want your governent controling another aspect of your life? I know what my answer is.

SOPA and PIPA look good at face value, but digging deeper it allows for anybody to make a complaint and the government to shut you down. So would it affect the work here on Hub Pages? Sure, it possibly could and it wouldn't even have to be your work that was the problem. The government could under SOPA and PIPA shut down HubPages as a whole. Looks like the bills have been shelved in Congress as of today, but the blackouts on Wednesday are still happening. Wikipedia has announced they will join in the Blackout with Reddit and a slew of smaller sites like mine and many others.

If this passes, it could result in the permanent closure of Hubpages...so, yes, I am worried.

It would pretty much require every single hub to be manually vetted for copyright violations *before* it was published.

For *now* SOPA is shelved, but not yet dead. I haven't checked the status on PIPA yet today.
