Why do a lot of men not dance?
It seems like most women love to dance, while a lot of man appear to be scared at the simple idea of dancing. Where is that coming from?
I can't say for all men, but my husband has a complete lack of rhythm. I think it comes down to the music they absorbed as a child. Some music like hard rock and rock, don't have a strong steady bass line or drum beat. Others like rap, do but the flow of the vocals don't encourage anything more than thumping your hips.
So, if you ask these guys to dance all they end up doing is gyrating their hips or doing the head bop. They look ridiculous and they know it, so they'd rather just avoid it at all costs. It's what my husband (who grew up on rock) and my cousins (who grew up on rap ) do.
In short, insecurity.
personally i love to dance but i think a lot of men think that dancing is feminine.they have it in their minds that dancing is for women, at least this is what a few of my buds have said. another reason is confidence. they worry they will look stupid because they don't no how to dance.
They do, but they're sensible about it, they only use dance as an ulterior motive, usually to pick up a girl, or to keep the missus quiet. I can't think of any other reason to dance except for finess, or for sportsmen learning how to move.
lol, now that I think about it last time I saw my husband dancing (not a slow dance) was when he was trying to pick me up. funny, never thought of it!
My husband tells me that he feels like a knucklehead when he tries to dance fast where the two partners don't touch each other, so he refuses! He does, however, love to dance where he can twirl me and dip me...he needs contact with my hands, that's the only way he'll dance.
It is not as easy for a man to dance. Girls usually look good no matter what they are dancing to. Guys seem to either look awkward or dorky. So if a guy is trying to meet a girl at a bar or club I don't think he would like to look awkward or dorky so he chooses to avoid it.
About 8 weeks ago i started to learn modern jive and fortunately i found a great instructor and classes, however now with some experience behind me, I am comfortable dancing and know what i am doing is correct.
However I have found many (older) women want to lead or are stiff/tense and it is very frustrating to dance with these women and they are always adamant that they are correct and they completely mess the dance sequence up. These women are very slow in their moves and the dance is just not enjoyable
I now just stop and no longer dance if the woman starts to lead and wait for them to realise i have stopped.
The other negative is young women not wanting to dance with older men, however these young women are in the minority.
so ladies think about how you are dancing and ask yourself, am I being an active follower or am i trying to control the man again and lead this dance.
being a great follower is just as difficult as it is to be a great lead
Hey Anthony, you are a dancing man! Way to go! It's not easy to find a good dancing partner, but enjoying to dance is your key to success.

Why do men stop dancing as they get older - when you go out as a couple? In my teens and 20s - plenty of young men on the dance floor. But now, say at a wedding, men in their 30s, 40s, 50s and so on just sit - unless they are drunk. Why not keep dancing?

Is it really true that men hate to dance?I'm making updates in my book for adults, and I have a chapter on belly dance and burlesque. A friend of mine said I should write the chapter encouraging learning ballroom dance instead. I already wrote about ballroom dance in an earlier...
