   True or Not!
   
   Hi all, Found this post on HP and was interested on finding out if there is any truth in it or not.
   
   "A lot of higher educated people think that religion is for the "weak" minded, but Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein and Sir Issac Newton all believed in god! Weak minded I think not!"
   
   
   I found this hard to believe as there is not solid evidence of any of these highly educated men of having any strong religious beliefs, would love to know more people think and any additional information that maybe about them.

   one study i read about states that less the 10% of people with an IQ over 140 believe in god.

   You have to start with defining your terms.  What does it mean to be highly educated?  What does it mean to be weak-minded?  What does it mean to be intelligent, knowledgeable, or wise?  If being strong-minded and educated means that one can only believe what the majority believes--or in what they can observe with their physical senses, or that they are so strong and smart that they don't need a god, then I guess they won't believe in one.  But what is wisdom?  What does the one who has had a near-death experience believe?  What has the one who lost everything only to find the true meaning of life believe?  What does the one who is shunned by his society for showing love to the "unlovable" believe?  Both history and modern-day is full of examples of people that believe in God and people that don't believe in God--some are very smart with high IQs (on both sides), many are "average", some are simple, and everything in between.  The better question is this:  Why do those that believe in God believe?  What compels them?  Why do those that believe in no God believe as they do?  Motives provide much more insight than conclusions.  Last, there is "head smart" and there is "wisdom and heart smart."  How intelligent is the person who can memorize a million facts yet not treat others with respect and love?  How wise is the one who uses his gifts and talents to manipulate others and steal from the poor?  Mental knowledge is very different from wisdom and revelation.  Revelation requires experience.  Tell the expert of marriages to get married--what they've studied about it and what they will experience will be two different things.  Who is wise?  The one that knows by experience--the one talks the talk and walks the walk--the tree that says "I'm an apple tree" and produces apples.  Sorry for digressing a little.  Hope you find my answer interesting.

   This is how I will answer your question.
   In religion if you mean a system of beliefs then then that answer is left up to the believer. The reason I say this is because I believe that a relationship with God is a personnal one. I can't tell you what God has planned for me is neccessarilly the best for you.
   If you mean as a way to live life, then I would have to say that the hub is correct. Then by admitting this you are stating that they could have lived thier life no other way. Therefore, by admitting such facts you are saying that they could not have lived their life in any other way.
   I am sorry that I cannot answer the question in affirmation, but in all honestly it really depends upon you, and how you would interpret religion. I hope this understandable.
