fear can sharpen your senses and heighten your focus, and keep you from making a rash decision
Fear can be very good when you are about to do something that your inner voice tells you is not good for you, dangerous or just plain stupid. Always listen to that little voice because if often knows more than you do.................
When it motivates us to better ourselves. For example, if a fear of being raped helps a women to be more aware of her surroundings, learn self-defense, and be careful about selecting partners, this is good. If a person doesn't want to fail and consequently pushes himself to excel in all he does, this can be good if not taken to an unhealthy level.
Fear can be the motivation we need to make changes in our lives. For instance, fear of dying from cancer might prompt someone to quit smoking.
When you fear God. People think you need to be "scared" of Him but the fear the bible refers to is of respect, trust and honor. As a wife should fear her husband. As a child should fear his/her parents. Its the ONLY kind of fear that is good.
When you have fear in the outcome for certain things, it maybe good. For example, if you fear of the outcome effect of drugs then you will steer clear from it. So this is a good thing.
Fear of danger will prevent you from taking unnecessary risks. So it can be a good thing as well.
Certain fears need to overcome whereas some will be better off with you.
Fear is good if you are doing something wrong and fear stops you from doing something wrong
In the 1960's Eleanor Gibson and Richard Walk did experiments by placing a baby on a transparent top with a checkerboard design that was dropped from the baby's level to the same pattern a few feet below the glass. The babies would stop at the visual cliff and would not crawl past the 'edge' read more

We must ahve fearas a base but when it starts to take over our lives thats when we coudl have problems.
Fear brings out a different reaction in people. For some fear is a plus, because that is the driving force that gets them going. For others fear will destroy because they do not think, they act and everyone knows the reaction that brings if done wrecklessly. Then there are those that give into fear and allow fear to "win" so to speak. There are other examples, I just can't think of them right now
You all have given some really good examples of when fear is good. Thanks so much for sharing all of your wonderful comments. I agree that some degree of fear is good as long as we do not live our lives consumed by fear and afraid to really live.
I believe true fear is simply the human mind's response to danger: a survival instinct.
Not a single person on this planet has ever been truly fearless, and those who were, are dead.

God V Satan. The Final Smack Down. Get Ready To Rumble! But the match is fixed and God will win, no hope in hell for Satan (excuse the pun). Why would Satan even show up? If its certain he cannot hope to win why bother? If it was me I would stay home Maybe watch some telly with a drink and some...

It has always struck me as odd that "God fearing" is considered a good thing. I was raised Christian. It is my understanding from my studies and conversations with others that God is all about love and forgiveness. Yet here we are with so many people saying that you should fear God. It...
