   Not living in a big town you may not have luxuries like being able to go to a store in one min. But personally I love the fact that this small town as no rush hour, and good people. Every big town I lived in my neighbors was always trying to get something from ya, or you had to worry constantly about some moron breaking into your house in the middle of the night and then worry what your going to say to the judge when you "Accidentally" shoot them in head.

   My wife and I prefer to live in a small town.  I don't even know what the price of gas is because I fill my tank so infrequently.  I can walk to work or the movie theater.  The people are friendly.  We know each other and look out for each other.  All of our expenses are low, housing, taxes, etc.
   
   We do have a grocery store, Walmart and a few other businesses.  But, for most of the big chains we have to travel to a larger town.  Not really a big deal.  It is not like we have to go shopping everyday.  We usually combine our shopping with travel to see family in larger cities.  Since we do still have the USPS, Fedex and UPS, almost anything we want can be bought on-line.  Have you ever bought a toilet on-line?  There are discount websites for them.
   
   The best thing about a small town happens when go visit a large city.  We went to NYC a few months ago to see shows, go out to eat, visit museums, etc.  The best part of our trip, we didn't have to stay there.
   
   Like the sign says when you enter the state of Maine, 'If you lived here, you'd be home now.'  We like where we live because we can always go visit anyplace else we want.

   having been born, raised, and lived in dallas tx for 36 years, the answers could be endless, but here are some:
   kids play outside
   the only crime is skiiers speeding through town
   this past friday as i was taking a walk down main st., i met a young lady riding a horse, followed by her 2 dogs
   last summer, in the middle of the same street, i came upon a mama moose and her two mooslings. we actually played a little game of "chicken" but i won
   in colorado, especially, if you have legs that likely haven't atrified, you don't have to drive to go on vacation
   peacefulness
   come visit anytime

   Having moved several times over the span of my career, I lived in huge cities, mid-size cities and small towns.  There are so many benefits and some have been covered, but one small town I lived in was actually part of a college town.  There were so many cultural events that were good, easy to get to, inexpensive and fun....something was always happening.  But, for me, the benefit I will always remember is the fact that I felt part of the community and the community embraced each other...it was like having an extended family.  It was a good feeling.

   I have only lived in small towns with populations of less then 10,000. While I enjoy the security and small feel, I would like to feel the experience of a large city. But I can also say that I very much enjoy not having much traffic (except during tourist season)
