How do you explain karma to a Christian? They obviously don't know its part of a spiritual idea.
The basic tenets of all religions are truly Universal...they will relate if you do not use too much jargon..

He he, what an interesting question - yah, obviously it is beyond some Christians to accept that there may be more ways than one to know and perceive the Divine.
Since it is apparently beyond the average Christian to be 'an imitator of Christ' like the Bible commands, without the threat of Hell hanging over their heads, I guess you can tell them that Karma is God's way of trying to keep you out of 'Hell' before you do something that will land you there permanently.
If further disagreements arise, then you can explain that in the Karmic perspective, Hell is when your soul is beyond repair and needs to be dissolved to use the energy for a new one, and that when and if that happens to you, it feels like you're in Hell forever.
The problem with trying to explain karma to a Christian is that it is a Hindu/Buddhist concept. We understand the meaning of the concept but we can not adhere to that concept as it is against our biblical beliefs.
If we subscribed to the theory of karma we would then be disqualified as a Christian and in fact be a Buddhist or Hindu.
Christian means follower of Christ not follower of Buddha.Christians believe Christ is/was Jesus, not Buddha.
You reap what you sow..... scripture reference is Galatians 6:7-10
in christianity karma is not that afflicting because God is Love.
I am not one who condones eastern philosophies or mysticism, so I'll put my cards down on the table right away.
Having said that, I do not know all that "Karma" implies, but I can tell you within the Christian realm that we are warned that we "will reap the crop we sow" and instructed to "judge not, lest you be judged in the same likeness, and the same measure you use will be used against you."
Not knowing much about Karma, I will only say that I am sure there are some minor similarities and major differences between this Biblical doctrine and Buddhist concept.
As the scholar and philosopher C.S. Lewis pointed out - there are only two major religions in this world...Hinduism and Christianty, and they are at complete opposition to one another. Within Hinduism, all the other religions of the world can be found, but there is nothing like Christianity...it stands on its own.
"Put away your sword," Jesus told him. "Those who use the sword will die by the sword." Matt 26:52.
How can a Buddhist explain karma to a Christian? Easy! Here are a list of Christian quotes showing that karma is in the Bible! read more
Some people learn the hard way you can't make them understand or accept what you may know or have experienced personally. Why stress yourself out in trying to make someone understand something they should know from their own experiences. btw I dont think Karma is a buddist thing, it's universal whether or not you belong to that religion
omg righterone went in.....an interesting way to looking at karma
I am a Christian and yes I still believe in Karma. To me it is just another word for sins that has not been forgiven of a person! You see being a Christian is just the name for the religion that you believe in. Karmic debt affects eveyone no matter what religion they are. In this dimension (the Third Dimension) we encounter much suffering, pain and emotional stress! Spirituality is a lot more than just an Idea. All of us are spirits that were put into a body of flesh at the time we take our first breath. We all come from the Heavenly Father, as HE is Spirit. He is the great is the great IAM. He created everything in Heven and Earth. He spoke it into existance. Everything he made has its own vibration, including our food. Positive thoughts help us move on our journey to spiritual development in life. Negative thoughts actuallys hold us back and keep us from going forward and learning. When we choose the right way or the good way we move towards our Spiritual goals and our progress is much faster.

It's going to be hard for me to write objectively about this, but I'll try.I've recently seen a documentary about the child witches in Nigeria. I think it's just about the most terrifying and horrendous thing I've ever seen. The diagnosis and labelling of a child as a witch is pretty simple.If...
