Do you think erotic Hubs should be flagged

There are some poets who really write erotic Hubs.  I don't think some of them are for General Audiences.

Even if hubpages makes an age restricted section, I wonder how many authors will actually place their work in these categories.  But I think it would be a fantastic idea to be flagged so that a child doesn't accidentally click on something inappropriate.

Simply put yes. These hub tend to fall into the sector of being substandard or simply  'put out there' to attract attention or offer false promises. The main reason people who resort to creating this content is often because they don't have anything useful to publish, or they are simply too lazy to post anything of real value.

Although with that being said there are going to be some authors who are professional photographers of such erotic material, but it's use is for a completely different purpose. They consider a woman's nudity to be an art rather than an idol for sex.

Yes, I do. This is hub pages, not porn pages. It is too easy for kids to gain access to things they shouldn't be reading. I also agree with drspaniel in the fact that they are put out there for the attention wow factor, and that there is no real creativity in it. Almost anyone can put together smutty.

Yes, flag them.  We all rely on Adsense to make money on HubPages.  Adsense does not allow "adult" content.   If Adsense finds that HubPages is displaying adult content, they could lose their account - which would impact all of us.

considering you are suppose to be 18 to be on here and that you aren't forced to read any hubs, i don't think hubpages needs any more restrictions then it already has.

I think erotic hubs are fine if they are informative and well done. Innuendos have their place in the world of writing too. No to porn hubs but also this is not a religious site and things like sex advice or ways to enhance your love life are interesting and useful topics.  If people can't control what their children read within the home....enough said

When HubPages started in 2006, they actually allowed porn and other adult content.  After their first year, they got a lot of money from investors so they could fund and grow the site, and one of the conditions of that was to get rid of the adult content so they could attract better advertisers.

Whether you think erotic Hubs should be flagged or not, HubPages has made it clear that they wish for material that is both extremely explicit and even of a "mature" theme to be reported to them (adult and mature are the first two flag options when reporting content).  And given that HubPages says that Google's TOS is the basis for theirs, mature and adult content is only going to survive as long as it is not reported or otherwise found by the moderators.
