Which do you think is more useful: Tablet or laptop?
I've been so confused of which to buy, Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 or a laptop computer. I've been thinking that though the tablet is very great at hand and it is also very convenient to use outdoors. Just I don't know if it can do things the way a computer could like video or audio editing, installing softwares etc..
Personally I find my laptop much more useful. I love watching movies in between working so my laptop's bigger screen beats a tablet hands down in those stakes. I also find the higher resolution a lot better for viewing media. The processing power of a laptop versus a tablet is huge. Tablets are more of a gadget for web browsing to me. I always end up going back to using my laptop for 'real work'.
One thing to remember when choosing between the two is that a tablet is very versatile but it has limited storage space. My iPad is 64 GB, my laptop is 250 GB which is small by today's standards.
A laptop is far more useful in terms of writing, photo editing, and software. Today's software takes up a huge amount of room no the hard drive and a tablet just cannot handle it.
I would get a laptop and follow it when you can with an IPad or tablet. I love my iPad but it really isn't a laptop.
As a computer engineer, I usually see many people who face very serious dilemma. They often hesitate before making a decision between buying notebook or buying tablet. read more
My brother asked me the same question recently! He has an iPad with 64GB and finds that it dow MOST things he needs for his own business but noticed some limitations in viewing various work files from MS Office and also handling some web sites that he needs to access. I view tablets as another view to things you need to keep an eye on, or you just need to check quickly e.g. your personal email, FaceBook, internet surfing watching streaming video. For serious work you are better off with a 13" inch laptop if you want it to be portable. I used an 11" Macbook Air for almost a year and even though the size and weight was great the screen real estate is very limited and 13" seems to be a good compromise. Also as mentioned if you do serious work on it you will need the larger hard drive and as with anything portable I would have a good backup strategy going as well such as storing files in DropBox, Box.net, MS Skydrive or Google Docs. This way your files are stored off the machine if something happens to it and another things is that you can access those from from any machine from anywhere in the world you have internet access. Hope that helps!
I think a laptop is way useful than a tablet because a laptop has more storage than a tablet.
