Does Ice cream make a person gain weight?

It would depend on the kind of ice cream, I think.  A quality ice cream has real dairy cream (the fat content of the milk), sugars, and whole milk.
A "light or fat free" ice cream would not have the heavy cream, whole milk, or real sugar.
This ice cream would certainly not have the calories that real ice cream would have.
I would say good quality ice cream WILL certainly make a person gain weight.

It all depends on the quantity and the general diet that goes with the consumption of ice cream. I could give a very extensive explanation here but in short, and to give some examples: if you eat a big amount, yes it will make you gain weight, because it has a lot of sugar in it, which turns into accumulated fat; if you eat ice cream after having a big caloric meal full of refined carbs, like a hamburger with a big mountain of French fries, yes it will make you gain weight.

If you eat too much of any food, it can make you gain weight.  If you need 1800 to 2000 calories per day to maintain your weight, and you take in more calories than that - whatever the food is - your weight will go up.

Ice cream specifically--no.  Weight gain is due to eating more calories than you need for your particular level of activity.  A diet of only ice cream would be yummy, but not very nutritious or filling smile  As long as you ate the correct number of calories for your activity level, you would not gain weight--but you might be hungry.  Since sugary, fatty foods like ice cream are very "calorie rich", it wouldn't take very much to have a lot of calories.
