      I am the same. I have been here for 2-3 weeks and I have posted I think 3 questions. All of the questions were things that I really wanted a response to.

   The accolade is meant to be an incentive to get people to ask questions. Hubpage editors didn't go hey its good that people ask questions lets reward them. They instead went hmm how can we get more traffic without spending money? I know lets give accolades for high traffic activity to get people to do it.

      I understand HubPages view on it by feeding off of people's needs to obtain something that makes them feel like they have reached a certain "status" on this site. I'd rather see a few good questions asked rather than it be a race to achieve a symbol

   Many, perhaps most, of the "questions" are masks for hidden agendae. Commons motives include scoring Hub points and getting more followers. This year, you're also seeing a lot of thinly disguised partisan political propaganda in the questions.
   
   Like you, I wish there were a way to weed out the trash so we wouldn't have to deal with it, especially given the volume of postings Hub has developed. I can't however think of much Hub management should, or for that matter could, do in the way of policing. It's up to the reader to be discriminating in the material he prefers.

   I post questions, not usually because I don't know the answer, but because I want to know what other people think.
   
   Sometimes I read a hub that makes me think of a question. I do not care at all about whether I get an accolade for asking questions.
   
   I do not expect to ever make more than a few cents from questions.
   
   I do care a little about my hubber score (I don't know why, but I do), and participating by asking and answering questions does help keep that up.
   
   Also interacting with other hubbers in this way lets us get to know each other, and sometimes I find interesting people and read their hubs and/or follow them based on their questions and answers, and perhaps others find me the same way.

   accolades, earnings etc., mean nothing to me. i'm here because i enjoy writing asking things and answering questions.

   It's very frustrating seeing 12 random questions asked by the same hubber. Most of the questions make no sense...lol
   
   I believe that newbies ask questions as a way of earning accolades in a short period of time. Most of them don't even come back to read the responses.

      I agree with that, it's annoying. But it is also pretty easy to ignore. I prefer that to tons of rules about what or how much you can ask.
