    What is your favorite pie?

What is your favorite pie? And pie crust? Do you make it, or buy it? And do you like savory pies, like empanadas and Shepherd's pie, or only dessert pies?

I love a good fresh and still warm APPLE PIE with a flaky crust that falls apart. That is if I can have a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream on it. Otherwise, if I can't have this perfect concoction of sweetness, I will not just eat the pie, alone. That would be like eating Eggs Benedict without the Hollandaise Sauce, or a hot homemade country biscuit without a slab of butter in the middle. Sacrilege!

I admire your commitment to your personal taste. I actaully like traditional apple pie with a slice of cheddar cheese, though. Let's get together - you bring the ice cream!

I've never heard of hot water pastry - how do you make that?

There must be a zillion recipes on the web. Use hot water instead of cold, lard for the fat content, mix with a wooden spoon and work the pastry whilst it is still hot.

Mine is a toss up between my Mimi's Chocolate pie and pecan pie! Whether it's homemade or store bought I love pecan pie! Dessert pies are so yummy. However I think people forget the simple joy of a savory pie such as shepherd's pie or cornbread and beef pie. Yum! Pie in general is just awesome! My favorite pie crust would be the standard flour based crust on savory and desserts is delicious and always reminds me of home.

Pecan pie is my own favorite, but only home made, using a recipe slightly changed from my mother's. I never had chocolate pie as a kid, so I think of chocolate as cake or candy or cookies.

Blueberry is good - but so runny! What's your recipe for chicken pot pie?

Make bottom crust from Bisquick (use the biscuit recipe on box), add cup chopped cooked chicken, can potato soup, can mushroom soup, cup cooked frozen mixed veggies. bake 350 degrees approx. half-hour.(I don't use a top crust)

It's a toss up between cherry and apple. Either way, I like it warmed wih a slice of Tillamook sharp cheddar cheese!

I like apple pie. I once ate the slice of apple pie with a dollop of vanilla ice cream served at a coffee-shop and it was simply delicious! I also like empanadas - two types - one stuffed with meat and vegetables and the other one stuffed with sweet ingredients. My mother made them at times and they tasted so tasty!

A fresh empanada is wonderful. Do you have your mother's recipe?
