Do some Gay people not realize they are Gay?
I have a friend at work who is a beautiful and lovely young lady with 2 young children. She brought her husband to our Company Picnic last week and it was hard to ignore how flamboyant he was with the male doctors, it was almost embarassing.
I do not have any idea if maybe they have some kind of agreement etc... but it made me wonder - do some people not realize that they are Gay or do they just refuse to accept that about themselves?
Good question. The last sentence answers your question the best way possible........"they refuse to accept that about themselves".
It is called repression: a process by which unacceptable desires, or impulses, are excluded from the consciousness and left to operate in the subconscious, or unconscious mind.
This is a common state that many gay people must live with because of societal and religious condemnation. If one denies what, or who, they truly are this process of repression makes it easier to coexist in a society that does not understand what is happening to them, and that would ostracize them if the truth be known.
But there are prices to pay for such intense suppression of the true self. The constant battle to force the conscious intentional exclusion from consciousness will ultimately destroy the mind and force the person to face who they really are, or commit suicide to keep their secret from the world, and destroys many lives in the process. When there is a spouse and children involved it makes the battle within even more wearisome.
In a society that brags about equal rights, birth rights, and civility, no person should ever have to fight this battle by themselves. We are what we are, and it is time that the ignorance be silenced so every person can pursue their own given path in life.
Gay is just a title.
I have times where I flirt with everybody. Male, female, attractive, unattractive, my age, or much older. I don't consider myself gay, or repressing any lesbian feelings when I flirt with a woman. I just think it's fun. Everybody likes to be flattered sometimes. Besides I am absolutely in love with my boyfriend and would never do anything that would harm that relationship.
There are people who repress their true emotional feelings but I think there is a lot more gray area than people are willing to admit.
Thank you nochance - another good perspective.
I think either can be true. I knew someone once who was due to get married and was happy and comfortable with their life. One day they met someone and in the end realised that in fact they were gay. Not everyone realises but denies it, they can just honestly not know.
I didn't think of this possibility, thank you Elderberry.
Your very welcome. Myself, I have three children and was with their dad for 11 years and was happy and it was good. After he left I had a relationship with and married another women and found that for me that worked and felt even better.
I am flamboyant and im married to a woman but i know im bi or more gay i love to crossdress and i fill very feminine alot i wear panties all the time and cami's but like i said i married to a woman but she tells me im a gurly gay boi

Why do so many people see gays as a problem?Besides the obvious and always present "cause it says so in the Bible", why are gays and lesbians hated by so many people?

This question is for the anti-gay folk who spend an enormous amount of energy in various gay groups and forums. Why?Is it because you want to make sure everyone knows you are not gay? What are you SO afraid of if you stop preaching your anti-gay beliefs?GLBT forums are supposed to be for GLBT...

I just returned from Chicago's gay pride week, where I marched along with my friends from Campit Resort from Saugatuck, Michigan. We were float #173 of 250 floats. Gay protesters slashed the tires of 50 floats, thinking that it would stop the parade, but all it did was delay it. The media reported...
