Within how many years do you think the fossil fuels like petroleum and coal will be spent ?
Our modern civilization is depended on fossil fuels for supplying power. Cars use gas and electricity needs coal. We are spending the planet's store of coal and petroleum too fast. How many years more will go like this?
I've heard that within fifty to seventy-five years that we will be in a greatly reduced availability of fossil fuels, Perhaps cold fusion and other sources such as solar, wind, water and some new and unexplored energy source will be on the drawing board by this time.I've heard that there is a huge supply of fuels sources that have been recently discovered in North America and there is also big deposits of natural resources on the moon's surface. When you get to the bottom of the coffee cup there is no more coffee, unless you make some more, using a new caffeine source in your drink. I believe natural gas will be developed more and cold fusion, which is being used in France by its developers, already. may well be in the spotlight.
Have you heard about Japan and some countries in Europe that use hydrogen propelled vehicles? I believe this may be one important way of transportation in the future.
The amount of proven and confidently expected recoverable oil continues to rise as new extraction technology is developed, so we have no sound idea how long it may last. The first serious projections it would run out had us hitting the wall forty years ago. Didn't happen.
In the US alone there probably are at least three hundred years of coal. That total, too, is subject to revision upward.
Published numbers on this topic are unreliable, though. Not only are they continually changing as new reserves and means of getting them are found, they are shamelessly massaged by political activists with hidden agendae. Take everything you hear about energy resources with a lot of skepticism. The bottom line is that we're not about to deplete them any time soon. Beyond that we don't know.
I think the effects of climate change will make questions about running out of coal or petroleum moot. The weather is going to be all anyone cares about, but it will be too late to mitigate. We should be planning now, but instead we're arguing. Apparently that's all Americans are capable of these days--belligerent political posturing.
The thing is, the climate of the planet is a huge thing and it doesn't care about our stupid opinions. Doesn't care. What is coming is coming. It's not like fighting over it will change anything.
I'm actually hoping we don't exhaust our supply of fossil fuels and instead turn to primarily using alternative energies. I mostly say this because I am a huge fan of classic muscle cars and I would like the fossil fuel supply to last for many more years so I can keep enjoying my passion and pass it on to my future children.
i heard that by the year 2015 that we will hit our peak in oil resources and there after we will be in decline. After doing a quick search on the internet i came up with some of the following statistics. Apparently Coal has 148 years remaining, Oil 43 years and Natural gas has 61 years left. Those stats are based on the proven reserves left in the world and that all the fuels could be maintained at a steady level. This in mind with the worlds ever growing population. This looks like an unlikely prospect. The reliablitity of this infromation i believe could be dramatised a little based on my own experiance here in Scotland we have been told the North sea oil would be exhausted already. Taking all this into considiration and that it could be possible that the fossil fuels are scarce within our lifetime. i think it is of great importance to explore and secure alternative fuel sources.

The earth is so huge. And people are so small. Are we really contributing to the build-up of C02 in the upper atmosphere(s) by:1. Burning fossil fuels, 2. Cutting down forests 3. Farming livestock.https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2021/ … l-warming/"Fossil fuels produce large quantities...
