Google Analytics: Getting "Tracking not installed" warning

   It seems that I have a problem while linking google analytics to my hubpages.
   
   After setting up a profile for hubpages in google analytics and after entering my google analytics tracking ID (UA-xxxxxxxx-y) (in the analytics field under affiliate settings) on my hubpages account I got the warning sign "Tracking Not Installed" instead of "Waiting for Data" (since it needs up to 24h to get the first real data).
   
   I do have google analytics on a self-hosted blog of mine. I do not remember having that warning (and problem) while setting up google analytics then.
   
   After reading the information provided by google I am a little bit lost. Any suggestion about the possible source of this problem and a possible work-through?
   
   Yes, I did read some specific hubs (and actually followed the instructions since the setting up process on hubpages is somewhat different than on an own self-hosted blog/website).

   I forgot to mention that I do not have (yet) a google adsense account. However, I guess that this should not hinder using google analytics.

   The Google Analytics tracking code has not been detected on your website's home page. For Analytics to function, you or your web administrator must add the code to each page of your website.

   I checked the correct writing in my account section (affiliate settings - analytics) a gazillion times. And it says status set. Anybody any idea?

   You set up a profile for hubpages.com in Analytics, yes? Are you sure you took the right code (the last 1 to 2 digits are different for each profile) and put it into your Affiliate Settings here on HP?
   
   And no, you do not need an AdSense account.

   @barry: I guess you mean a google adsense account? I'm still waiting for applying for adsense since I am fearing of getting rejected ... (there are so many rumours around adsense application nowadays).
   
   @irohner: after double- and triple checking I finally lost my patience and logged out of hubpages. Before I quit google analytics also I refreshed one more time and suddenly the status changed to "receiving data". Weird, but maybe the problem was that I had the account settings on hubpages open the whole time.
   
   However, it seems that finally everything is functioning smoothly and I just have to wait for the first data.

         I am having a problem entering my analytics code. I set up a profile for hubpages.com in Analytics. I copied the entirecode (the one that starts with <script type="text/javascript">) it's really long!...and put it into the little analytics box within Affiliate Settings on HP? I get the error message
         
         Are you sure that you entered a valid Google analytics ID?
         Most Google analytics IDs look something like 'UA-286186-1'.  You should double check the value you just entered.

      euro-pen, you have such great hubs that have commercial appeal.
      I wouldn't think there would be a problem with being accepted with google adsense. you should go ahead and sign up and see what happens.
      
      I wonder if green lotus got her problem taken care of.

         Ups. I completely forgot to reread this thread. But I am sure that GreenLotus finally did find out about the ID thing.
         
         Concerning your question about my adsense account:
         
         I applied in September. And I got accepted after maybe 3 or 4 hours the very same day ... So my fears were a little bit exaggerated .
         
         It is really interesting (some would maybe say frustrating ) to follow the adsense statistics. Especially what hubs generate clicks (not many) and what hubs do fail completely (the most and among some of the hubs with the most traffic).

   You do not have to copy and paste the entire code. Just the google analytics ID within this code. The "hubpages system" cares for all the technical things (you would have to use the entire code at your own self-hosted blog though).
   
   When I copied the code, I encountered the problem, that I was not able to select (and copy and paste) only the ID. Hence, I wrote it down, double-checked the ID and entered the analytics ID manually in the respective field at my hub affiliate settings.
   
   (I hope I remember the process correctly, it is now well over two month or so ago ...).
