    Freelance Sites

I'm aware of a lot of the sites like oDesk, but I'm wondering if there are any "hidden gems" out there for freelance writers to find jobs. I've been looking everywhere.

The problem is, someone finds a good site, they let everyone else know, everyone joins a good site, suddenly it's a saturated market like odesk.

oDesk was once a good source of writing jobs. Unfortunately, insensitive clients have started to come in. Imagine being paid $1 for a 500-word article! Sadly, there are people who apply for those kind of job posts; hence, clients think it was okay.

As a full-time freelance writer, I get most of my earnings through Constant Content. I wrote about my experiences on the site here:

The way the site is set up is designed to avoid a 'race to the bottom' price war like you get between writers on oDesk.

I never thought I'd make money as a writer, I'd almost given up, and then I found InteractMedia.  It's Copy, but it's writing (if you can write creatively, you can write copy, copy is EASY).  They have a small audition process (including picking three "specialties" on their sister site YoExpert) and rate you based on your sample (which you have to come up with from scratch from one of your three specialties - so do REALLY well on this one).  The higher your rating, the more jobs you have access to, and you can improve your rating if clients rate you higher.  You pick and choose your jobs.

I couldn't be happier with it, in my first week there I got someone adding me to their favorites and the next thing I know they're offering me this massive (well-paid) direct assignment.  InteractMedia takes 20% commission off of what you earn, and they pay out twice a month after you've hit $20 for the pay period.

    Hope that helps!

You can check freelance.com, elance.com, or fiverr.com. Some of my friends recommend essays.ph, writers.ph, and iwriter.com though I have not tried them yet. You can also earn from hubpages. You will definitely earn more if you keep on writing good articles with quality and original content.
