Does everyone ALWAYS respond to comments on their hubs?

Suddenly there seem to be a number of hubbers who are not replying to comments left, even after a week.  Is this common?  Do you always respond?   I know I do; if I've missed anyone's comment then it hasn't been intentional as I regard it as a matter of courtesy.

I try to, and if I miss a comment it is unintentional. But everyone has different circumstances, and if a hub has a lot of comments it can be a challenge to acknowledge every last one. Also when I post a comment, I am not necessarily expecting an acknowledgement.

That's a very philosophical attitude; maybe we take ourselves too seriously sometimes but it's still nice to have a personal comment and keeps the friendship feeling going!

I always try to respond to comments; not simply out of courtesy, but out of appreciation. It means a lot that someone took the time to say something about my hubs, So, of course, I respond, even if it's simply to thank them for reading.

I try to respond to comments but most of the time I don't simply because I forget. Also many of my comments come from random people on the internet who are not likely to come back and see my response.

That's interesting.  I haven't come across anyone having more comments from the net than from hubpages.  I've never had ANY comments from the net!

I try to make a point of responding to everything. I did have a computer blowout for a couple of weeks and I know I missed some because my phone is a pain to navigate HubPages on. But, yeah, I think it's only respectful to answer a comment.

There are of course circumstances beyond our control from time to time so that's fair enough.  It's great to respond as much as one can, entering into the friendly spirit of it all.

I have noticed a real drop in views and comments. I posted 3 hubs and normally have tons of comments from followers and there have been very few.  Not sure what is going on.

But, if I have comments, I always respond to them as I am grateful for their time and comments.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the new layout?

Yes I always respond no matter how many comments have been left. Also if I've missed a comment then I apologise to the sender. If people have taken the time to read your work and more importanly leave a comment, then the decent thing to do is to acknowledge it. Personally I think it's very rude not to respond to readers.

I agree that we should all respond as often as we can, barring impossible circumtances.

I always respond and actually look forward for the ability to interact with fellow hubbers...both those that agree and those that don't.

I always respond to my comments, and try to do so, as fast as I can so my readers will know that I appreciate them for stopping by.  I notice that some people do not, or if they do combine several hubbers into one comment for their response.  I feel that is not helpful for you , because it doesn't show true gratitude, at least not in my opinion.  I respond to my readers in individual comments.

I think there are some occasions when comments are jutifiably late.  Those who respond to a few hubbers together are at least acknowledging the readers but, yes, it's much nicer to have an individual response to your comments.

I do that on regular basis just to thank the hubber for the time s/he has taken out to read my hub and commenting on the same. Every hubber should follow this as it binds hub fraternity together

As a newbie, i personally feel flattered and honoured that someone has enjoyed my hub enough to take the time to leave a comment. I love receiving comments but i enjoy more replying to them and engaging in conversations and forging new  friendships

On a further level, i feel it is the author's duty to respond to each and every hub as a matter of courtesy and respect..

YES, I absolutely make a habit of responding to every comment that I receive.

Not responding to another person's comments is just plain and simply bad manners.  We all have time-constraints but that is no excuse for not responding.

Even if you do not agree with what has been said it is your opportunity to reply why.

Well said, UrsulaRose.  Even if an answer is a little late, it should be done.

I always respond to the comments on my hub page articles, because people have been kind and thoughtful in making wonderful comments, and I just feel like replying to those comments.  ......And, I have been making some wonderful friends because of all of our communication back and forth.

Yes, absolutely.  The great conversations and the friends made make a huge difference to the day.  I think that's one of the best things about hubpages.
